What really impresses me about this restaurant is that the food is consistently good the service is consistently good for years and they give employees off Monday and Tuesday.No it doesnât have a wide ranging menu but what it has is good and I like it because you donât have to get huge meals my wife and I are both small eaters so she gets the Asian tacos and I get the small order of chicken wings with a side of potato salad total bill $21 and change highly recommend

My son and fiance had a food tasting last October, planning to cater Hickory River for their March wedding. The owners wife was late and then lied about why she was late. They finished the tasting and they decided on what they wanted. They were told they didn't have to put a deposit down at that time but they would schedule their wedding and catering details. They called this week to confirm and put down their deposit. They were told the prices went up. Plus the owner said he didn't have any record of their wedding or that they had put in an order. He asked who they talked to and when they said his wife, he said he would talk to her and get back with them today. Well, you probably guessed it....he never called. Now they are left scrambling to find another option. I love eating there, but I will never to back there again. They have lost a long time customer. I am sorry if some of the catering information that we provided was not clearly conveyed to you or your party. I am not entirely sure about your meeting, as I was not there, or if anyone was late or the reason behind that, nor how you would know if someone had lied to you. This I do know; we offer many different ways people can get food for large groups and they are not all the same. Catering as we refer to it, is available in 2 main forms, "Do It Yourselfâ- which is very basic and more simply put a delivery and "Full Service Catering". We also sell âbulk ordersâ with meats available by the pound and quarts of sides. Forgoing the similarities the biggest differences are that with "Do It Yourself Catering" and âbulk orderingâ we do not require a contract nor a deposit and we can always accommodate a âdelivery order or bulk orderâ with just a shorter notice. The "Do It Yourself" option was what your son spoke to me about or simply put a delivery. That sir is the reason why no contract was signed nor a deposit paid and thus the reason there was no record of an order. The order was not taken or even started last October for a delivery at the end of this coming March. We just donât do it that way. We ask that people call back closer to their dates with exact counts and food selections and prices are always subject to change unless the order is paid for. Placing the order did not appear to be an issue for your son what-so-ever when I spoke with him on the phone Tuesday night. I also provided an additional option for getting the food at more affordable price than previously quoted, when he asked about the price increases. Additionally I did tell your son I would call him back as soon as I had a chance to talk to my wife about his order which I did this morning. I informed him I would still honor our previously offered delivery price. He informed me he would get back to me as soon as he had a decision. This was before I saw your review, thus I was unaware you had already vowed to never eat at my business again. I appreciate your past business. I only hope you (and those who read this) can see there is a little more to the story than you let on. Also with more than 5 weeks until the date your son was needing the delivery, I am still more than prepared to get the job done at price previously discussed or less (if he picks up)! I do however feel, if your plans have changed it doesn't seem fair to hold us accountable for any "scrambling" you are left doing. If he is still interested in placing this order have him call the restaurant and we can get him all squared away.- Mike Johnstone

this was the first time we had eaten at this restaurant, but had seen it had good reviews. The place is somewhat small and not fancy by any means. I ordered the "create your own" and had ribs and brisket and my wife had rib tips. I was surprised at how big the ribs were. Very generous portions and the food was delicious. If there was any negative, it was that the service was a little slow. There was only one server and she was pretty busy. Despite that she was still friendly and attentive.

My husband and I, along with a group of seniors, had the most delicious dinner here. Our food was served in a trash can lid....WHAT A HOOT! It was rightly called the TRASH CAN SPECIAL. It was pre-ordered and served table side for groups of 4. The dinner consisted of barbecue ribs, pork, brisket and wings and served with fries,onion straws, coleslaw, beans and corn bread. Dessert and drinks included in the price (don't know how much since this was included in our tour price) I ordered a glass of wine which was, of course, additional for $5, a real bargain. Cameron was our server and he did a fantastic job serving us the hot and fresh food and kept the drinks flowing.l We had a great time, a delicious meal and the best of service. This is a must go to kind of place. Loved it!
