After a long drive across Idaho we were looking for something local and nearby our hotel. Famous Dave's was the closest so we dropped by and were seated immediately. Nice comfortable place with excellent service. Broad menu looked good with pages of choices. We tried the brisket and the unlimited rib tips( days special) . The rib tips were very good but the brisket left a lot to be desired ( very fatty and tasteless) . The sides were also OK but small portions. Final tab was expensive for what we had. $45 for two entries and iced tea plus tip.

We could not try the pulled pork becuase it comes pre-mixed with sauce. The ribs were excellent, good flavor and tender. The chicken was good. The kitchen was testing gumbo which was very good. Sides were OK. Only dessert available was sweet potato pie which had too much of an extra spice. Service started with a young man who was slow, but later a woman who was chef/owner took over.

The Gator is a very good sports bar with real people. It is comfortable and there is no problem bringing the wife and kids for food and appropriate drink. They have a large choice of micro-beer on tap, a full bar, and they still have bottle beer. Their food is very good, I often go with the soup/sandwich combination or share a wings and nacho appetizer with a friend. It is a great place to meet with friends or colleges and spend a few hours enjoying drink, food, and good conversation. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are attentive yet not smothering in their service. Once you try the Gator, you'll find yourself coming back often.
