Had lunch while visiting with family. There were six of us so we sat outside as they could not seat six inside. Service was good. All the lunches were fine but the flies drove us nuts. Would not eat outside there again, but the food was good enough.Thank you for choosing Bridges. We apologize for the flies. We look forward to seeing you again!

This place on a gravel road and up a hill overlooking Valley City. Five of us enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the bar for drinks and supper. The waitress was very friendly and good. We had kabobs, steak and wings that were all good. Prices were reasonable.

The short version: stay away!!The details: Never in my life! My wife and I are late-50- early-60-somethings. We've traveled a fair bit both abroad and especially domestically. In all our travels, we have never, I repeat never, had a restaurant experience as disturbing, unpleasant, and pathetic as what we endured at the Tavern 94, at the Wagon Wheel Inn, in Valley City, ND, on May 3, 2013.Since we were from out of town, and unfamiliar with the place, we asked what beers they had on tap. Apparently, the bartender was having a very bad night. She took umbrage at our stupid inquiry and proceeded in a loud tone to rudely name the taps by a nonsensical mix of brand names, beer color, and brewery. We were taken aback, and should have walked out right then. But chalking it up as a fluke, we ordered a beer each, and began considering whether to stay there or go across the street to another restaurant. The bartender thought she had overheard our beer order, and not waiting for our waitress to tell her, she poured what she thought were our two beers. One of the beers was not what we ordered, which sent her into a ranting funk, including an episode of glowering our way. Alas, while trying to get a grip on what was happening there and delaying a menu decision, we ordered another round. Unfortunately, my wife changed beer styles. The bartender poured this round wrong too. She ranted again, exclaiming the beer she poured and the one my wife ordered both started with "S", as if that were an excuse, and glowered again over at us.I am not exaggerating, misrepresenting, or lying. And I am not finished. For some reason I was still considering a food order, so I asked the waitress what kind of fish was in the fish basket special. She answered, "uh, it's a patty of fish?" I was astounded at such a reply, but thanked her for her answer. It might have been laughable in another circumstance, but there, that night, it was not so funny. I still can't fathom why, but we decided to stay and place a food order. When the waitress brought our food my wife's order was right, but mine was not. I had ordered the shrimp basket, which was listed as 12-15 shrimp, including fries, cole slaw, and a pickle. My order arrived as 10 shrimp, no cole slaw, and no pickle. The waitress did not return to inquire if everything was OK until way later. Both she and the bartender were far more interested in the TV than in their jobs at hand. When she did ask, I told her of the discrepancy in my order, to which she replied, "Do you want some cole slaw?" (never mind the rest of the order.) I declined. But now, to top it all off, the waitress presented the "bill" -- $40. Even. They were charging me $6 extra, for tax, she said! We realized later that she'd charged us for the two wrongly-poured beers! So, in addition to being insolent, abusive, and incompetent, they proved themselves dishonest. We were so flummoxed we paid the bill. Serves us right, I know. OH! how we wish we'd gone over to the supper club next to the AmericInn across the street! I am incapable telling, in its fullness, the absurd, stunning, insulting, and exasperating experience we had at the Tavern 94 restaurant. I have not described this fiasco as coherently as I would have liked, and in presenting it as I have, I have nearly defeated my own purposes in commenting at all. I would never return here to eat -- I would cheerfully go without food for 48 hours rather than eat here again, and I urge you to go ANYWHERE in Valley City for a meal rather than here -- surely no other eating establishment in town could be this bad! It was, hands down, the ABSOLUTE WORST restaurant experience we have ever suffered. Ever.
