All Hainanese and Singaporeans would protest that this is a shameful and disgusting representation of Hainan Chicken rice. First, the chicken although a huge portion, is lacking the soft and tenderness of the wonderful silky skin. The chicken usually lacks in flavor but this is absolutely tasteless. Now for the most important part, the rice. Hainan chicken rice is suppose to be full of chicken flavor and a bit of ginger and onions. This was everything but. Even white rice has more flavor than this. The chili is also extremely important and this was a completely failure of any representation of Hainan chicken rice.

Borneo is a restaurant serving Indonesian food, Chinese Borneo (Kalimantan) style. Their specialty is Oxtail curry soup and other simple dishes such as Fried Rice, Kway Tiao, Chicken Satay, Gado2, Rujak, and many others, which all taste delicious and tasty. Ambience is basic, services are fast and efficient, while pricing is considered very affordable for US standard. It is a good find and worth a visit if you are in Pasadena and craving for Indonesian Chinese food.

From coast to coast, the dim sum are very similar. I always wish restaurants would be more creative. I was very pleased with the dim sum here. There are so many different selections in addition to the traditional ones. Everything was delicious. The service was great. The waiter always checking my teapot. Empty dishes were removed promptly. This is one of the best dim sum restaurant I have ever been to. I wished I had a bigger stomach so I can try more things. Thumbs up!

Since my trip to Thailand where I tasted fresh authentic Thai food. I haven't been able to enjoy Thai food back in the U.S. I was ruined. Everything tasted just like a poor imitation of real Thai food. But this restaurant has been the closest to authentic Thai food. The food we ordered was fresh, tasty and the service was good. I recommend this restaurant.

Only order the marinated bulgogi or the kalbi; everything else is flavorless. The flame on our grill went out three times. Poor ventilation in the restaurant, very smoky. Servers were inattentive and did not help cook the meat, as waiters in most Korean barbecue restaurants do.

They brought the food (we ordered) and we cooked it ourselves at the table, on a little propane burner, hotplate grill. We had ordered regular chicken, spicy chicken, beef steak, shrimp (with their eyeballs intact), brisket-sliced very thin, veggies, rice, white rice wrap, potato and corn. It was good not great, IMO. I had a Korean beer HITE, and my girlfriend had Sake “Junmai Ginjo" which she enjoyed.

I do recommend this restaurant for their excellent fare and very reasonable prices. I am concerned the fact that there are only 13 tables. Our wait was over 1 hour 45 minutes at 6:30 PM on a Saturday evening. No reservations. Parking, too, is terrible:This restaurant is in a strip mall with very few parking places. If you can stand teh wait an dfighting for parking, by all means, try the food. The signature dish, Lobster, was excellent!

This unassuming hole in the wall in a small strip mall is pure delight. Although bracketed by a 7-11 convenience store, a discount mobile phone shop, and a dry cleaner, you know you've chosen well when you see chairs arrayed outside for waiting diners and the chairs are all filled. This is a busy place. Rightfully so. We were fortunate to hit a lull and were seated immediately but people were waiting for a table the entire time we were there. The food is terrific. Is it authentic? The customers were 98% Asian when we ate there. That's a good sign about authenticity. I ordered a seafood Pho with shrimp and crab. It did not resemble what I'm used to getting in San Jose but it was delicious nevertheless. One of my dinner companions ordered yellow curry chicken with french bread. Seemed unusual. Also delicious. Be prepared for the endless menu. It's 30 or 40 pages long. Better: do your homework and study the menu online before visiting. Very highly recommended.

Lunasia Dim Sum House

Reviewed By FrequentTraveller034

I organized a friends’ outing to Lunasia on a Saturday morning. Having never been there and knowing my lady friends were totally unfamiliar with Dim Sum, I was a little worried that they might not enjoy it. I had heard that there was a tremendous wait, even at 11AM, but we sat outside for what seemed like just a few minutes before we were called. As I suspected, my friends left all of the ordering up to me, so I dove right in and ordered various dumplings, green beans, sliced pork, noodles, pork belly and a few other things. I even decided to order dessert so that we would not have to call the server later in the meal. To my amusement, the first thing that arrived was the dessert! There were also a few items being offered at the tables by the servers. One of the ladies spotted some buns that looked delicious and indeed they were. Another server came by with what looked like long thin bread rolls – they were a sweet item with custard inside. Everyone oohed and aahed! Everything was very tasty, especially the green beans and the pork belly item. Service was OK, with little contact from the servers (everything ordered from a form on the table via pencil check marks). As busy as it was, I expected to be rushed, but there was rushing us at any time and we spent quite a while just catching up. This was well worth the drive from the Westside.

Newport Seafood Restaurant

Reviewed By MarktheWay

We had to arrive at 4:30 pm to get a table for an early dinner on Mother’s Day. No reservations accepted. Parking is very crowded in the lot but they have valet parking. There is also parking on the streets if lucky to find one. We had a party of six and ordered the Family Dinner for $54 which included 5 dishes - House Seafood Soup or Sweet and Sour Soup, Clams with Hot Spicy Sauce, Kung Pao Chicken, Sauted Pea Sprout, and a Steamed Whole Fish (Tilapia). Our main dish was the Newport Special Lobster (market price). A medium lobster was sufficient for our party of six. Everything was fresh and delicious! The lobster was all gone but we took the spicy lobster sauce and leftover rice home to make a fried rice dish tomorrow. This was a very good value for a lobster dinner! In a per person basis, each person cost approximately $50, including tip.
