I was totally blown away. Two weeks ago, I had a gyros from a place in Omaha. I thought that was the best... Now I'll have to go back and edit that review! The Taste of the Windy City really took me home! And the portions were fantastic! Just too bad I live in Kansas! I couldn't decide what I wanted, so I just started at the top of their menu!

Let me first start with the pro's: The drinks were well poured, the service was very good, and the food portions were more than generous. When my plate of perch came I was pleasantly surprised by the portion. It was 3 good sized butterflies for a single order. However, upon eating the fish, I found the predominant flavor to be grease. I ended up picking most of the breading off the perch, which was a LOT, and my fingers were very shiny after doing this, despite it not being a thick batter style breading. Also, on one piece of perch I ended up picking 13 fish scales out of my mouth. GROSS! The fries appeared to have been fried more than once and very greasy. Later on that night when I would burp, all I tasted was grease. My wife's prime rib was a good size portion and she said it was very tender but quite bland, including the Au Jus. I really wanted to like this restaurant because of the location and the portions, but it's not a place I would ever want to come back to.

Reading the good reviews after our visit and thinking maybe we hit it on an off evening. We stopped during the supper hour on a Sat evening. It was busy but we were seated right away, however in a booth right be the counter where the staff picked up the meals. The staff RAN back and forth by us all the time we were there. We both agreed that our meals were not very good and we would probably not go back. The sauerkraut on my Rueben was cold, the dinner salad consisted of iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato, mt husbands toast was hard and dry, cheese on his egg dish looked like processed cheese. We had a difficult time catching our server and waited quite awhile to get out tab.If you decide to try it I hope your experience is better.

Visited some family in Kimberly recently and had Saturday morning breakfast at Old Glory. Clean interior, with ample space and seating. Standard cafe menu, but tasty. Obviously a regular draw for local residents, especially patriots and welcoming to Vets in particular. The owner was a bit of pest stopping by our table and being overly friendly on at least four occasions. Not just asking about the food, but prying into our plans for the day, etc. Annoyingly also an unabashed male chauvinist. Overall this made it difficult to carry on an uninterrupted conversation with my companions.

This is a great Wisconsin Supper Club. Great drinks with really good food. The wait can be long at times but that’s what supper clubs are all about and the food is worth the wait. You can enjoy great drinks and complimentary appetizers at the bar while waiting. Try the liver paste and homemade garlic toast while you are at the bar.

I love this addition to Combined Locks, WI. It is the mom and pop place that is should be your go-to place for fast good food at a reasonable price. I had two eggs, hash browns and a side (toast, pancakes or biscuits and gravy) for less that $4! Their gyros are fantastic - they come with tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce with fries on the side. The staff are Johnny-on-the-spot for service and so nice!!

Have been a long time happy customer until recently. Today’s soup was chicken lemon and i envisioned the yummy version served in Greek restaurants. I had already planned our evening meal so decided to get some for take out. I was disappointed because it tasted just like a brand name chicken rice soup with a few free leaves in it. Not at all what I expected from Marks. Certainly not worth the $8 a scant quart.Have things changed? We haven’t gone there to eat for awhile because the seats on chairs need replacing and you sink so low it is hard to get up and out of them. They do offer cushions but that is not much help.Dear Allez:Sorry you didn't like the chicken soup. We take pride in all of house made soups sorry it was not to your liking. Please reach out at your convenience and we would be happy to compensate you for the soup.Thank you for your post.Mark DoughertyOwner
