How can you go to a fast food place and have them be out of burgers and fries? I don't know, but this place managed it. They were also out of napkins, and there is a grocery right next door. I really don't like to write negative reviews on trip advisor, but I had to for this place. I hope that they can get themselves straightened out, there aren't a whole lot of choices in town. I don't plan on visiting again.

We had family in for a funeral and we went for a family dinner. We got various food such as burger, hamburger steak, wings, kids quesadilla, and a really good ribeye Philly cheese steak, baked potato and great salad bar. Food was good and cocktails that were served were good, also. Nice, cold beer. It was a comfortable, rustic family restaurant with very friendly staff. We got several to go orders for the rest of the family staying in the Liberty Hall Bed and Breakfast. It was getting late but they didnt rush us out of there. I would definitely go back again. (My son said his burger was a bit dry and the hamburger steak is very plain if you dont get the onions, mushrooms and gravy)

Miss Kitty's

After driving two hours from Montgomery and then Selma, we were HUNGRY. There were no restaurants open in Selma because it was Sunday. We saw Miss Kitty's from the highway driving through Camden. It turned out to be a friendly country place. Lots of old granpa-granma types in coveralls and baseball caps eating fried chicken (aka the South in a nutshell). The restaurant operates buffet-style, so you go up to the front and point out your dishes to the cashier from steaming metal trays. There were four or five options for meat (all deep-fried--even including the pork chops), and six or seven side dishes (sad-looking overcooked vegetables, some fried as well). But everything tasted fresh and homemade, even if it was greasy. The servers were friendly and genuine. As a side note, we were surprised to see they had CNN playing on a flat-screen TV in the corner. Also, the customers were both black and white--a rare sight in the Deep South.

Jackson’s Fried Chicken looks like a fast food place, complete with a busy drive thru. My food wasn’t served fast, though — they prepared it fresh, and my C.O.B. was really, really good. You can order it mild, or hot with jalapeños. The state’s tourism department has this sandwich on its list of “100 Alabama Dishes to Eat Before You Die.” Can’t say I disagree.

Gainesridge Plantation Dinner Club

Our group of supper club friends made the hour drive to Gainesridge and wish we could stay all weekend! The fireplace room with its beautiful Christmas decor was the perfect setting for our holiday gathering! We started with crap claws and fried green tomatoes: hot and mouth watering! The bartender was so accommodating to several of our special requests. The most popular entrees for our group were the ribeye steaks and crab and shrimp casserole. Both got five stars! And the homemade rolls were icing on the cake! Miss Betty came by to visit with us as we inquired about the decorative quilts all around this beautiful historic home. She made every one of them and shared with us a book of photos of the dozens she had made. I cannot say enough about our unique experience of southern charm and hospitality coupled with an elegant meal at Gainesridge. It's so worth the drive. Though we had no children in our party, many were there and seemed to enjoy it as well!
