Żywiec /ˈʒɪvjɛts/ (Polish pronunciation: [ˈʐɨvjɛt͡s]) (German: Saybusch) is a town in south-central Poland with 32,242 inhabitants (as of November 2007). Between 1975 and 1998, it was located within the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship, but has since become part of the Silesian Voivodeship.

Stopped here on the way to Zakopane,Gora żar sits in the little Beskid mountain range,it's about 12km from Żywiec ,its not a High mountain,its elevation is only 761m and you have two ways to reach the top,a pleasant walk or take the funicular.
When You park up,you'll pay an attendant a few polish złoty to leave your car,you can get food and drink here before you decide what you want to do,the views here are pretty impressive also,there is a bus stop here if using public transport or private bus transfer.
If you decide to take the funicular,cost was only 17 złoty (round trip),you can take your pet dog if you want but you will have to pay,it was only though 4 złoty.
The views though as you go up will show you the town of Miedzybrodzie Zywieckie and the surrounding artificial lakes.
Once at the top,I'm afraid some of the buildings do look a little run down,but they are function and you can get something to eat/drink,you will have to pay for the toilet if you need it though but that's standard for Poland.
You can buy gifts and there is also a slide/toboggan ride for kids to go on,for adults,there is a technical curiosity,a Reservoir sits on top of the mountain and is used to make hydroelectric energy.
There was no snow on the mountain (May) so had no chance to ski so can't comment on what the slope is like.
Clearly the place needs money spent on it,shame really because the panoramic views are worth the visit

Co takiego jest tutaj, że warto przyjechać? To przepiękna droga krzyżowa, całkiem inna niż nasze wyobrażenia i sposób w jaki do tej pory była przedstawiana. Droga krzyżowa biegnie od ostatniego przystanku w miejscowości Radziechowy do Góry Matyska (609 m.n.p.m). Po drodze oprócz niesamowitych rzeźb można nacieszyć oczy pięknymi krajobrazami. Większość drogi jest asfaltowa, dopiero podejście pod sam szczyt wysypany jest kamykami dlatego miejsce nadaje się do cało rodzinnego wyjścia.
Na szczycie usytuowana jest kaplica, nad którą stoi Krzyż Milenijny i Statua Chrystusa Króla. Są również ławki na których można odpocząć.
Ze szczytu w pogodne dni można zobaczyć szeroką panoramę, od Bielska-Białej, poprzez m.in. góry Skrzyczne, Żar, Babia Góra, jezioro Żywieckie, oraz miejscowości usytuowane w Kotlinie Żywieckiej.
Ostatni przystanek autobusowy w miejscowości Radziechowy to również początku niebieskiego szlaku biegnącego na Baranią Górą, więc jak najbardziej można połączyć te dwa wyjścia.
Uwago: Jeśli w pełni chcesz docenić piękno tego miejsca to zostaw samochód na dole, obok ostatniego przystanku autobusowego.

Quite interesting, explaining the brewing technology, boasting about the history of the brewery and tasting the beer at the end. It's possible to arrange to see the production line as well. Their beer is average, yet popular, but the museum is recommendable.

From the top of the mountain there is a Panorama of Żywiec Lake, Magurka Wilkowicka Range and Hrobacz Łąka. The full range of activities that can be done on Mount Żar makes it impossible to miss it while hiking. Whether a longer backpack trip or an afternoon hike with your family, reaching the peak of Mount Żar is a must. There are many restaurants, souvenir shops and a hydro power plant (which is open to tourists). There is also pontoon slide on the playground near the lower station. If you prefer cycling or sking and you aren near to Żywiec, you need to try funicular pole of Góra Żar. You can get the top in ten minutes even with your bicycle or other equipment. There is a cafe, rooms, sport clubs nad a very steem asphalt road (not for cars). Around many ways for bicycles, especially to Chrobacza Łąka Top. In the Winter you cant use a long downhil form the Żar top and additional facilities. A lot of fun.

Bardzo przyjemny skansen z domkami z końca XIX wieku i początku XX wieku. Tani przewodnik 15 zł i niedrogie wejście sprawiają że warto tam podjechać. Bardzo zaskoczony odwiedzany. Będąc w środę do południa bylismy jedynymi zwiedzającymi tego dnia:)

Atrakcyjne i fajne miejsce u podnóża góry Żar. Tuż obok dolnej stacji kolejki. Jest kilka tras dla młodszych (od 8 lat) i starszych. Jest też trasa dla najmłodszych (od 3 lat), naprawdę fajna i bezpieczna, polega głównie na chodzeniu po schodkach i zjeżdżalniach. Nad wszystkim czuwa instruktor i nie pozwala dzieciom na szaleństwa i niebezpieczne przepychanki. Bilet dla najmłodszych jest ważny cały dzień. Bilety dla starszych - są na konkretne trasy. Trasy dla starszych są ciekawe, łatwiejsze i trudniejsze, ze zjazdami, ciekawymi przeszkodami, etc. Naprawdę warto tu spędzić godzinkę lub dwie.
