Filharmonia im. Mieczyslawa Karlowicza w Szczecinie

The new seat of the Szczecin Philharmonic was erected at the junction of two streets, Małopolska and Matejki, at the plot where 130 years ago the Concert House (Konzerthaus) commenced its activity. Since 1884 it served as city’s musical center. The building was severely damaged during warfare, and in 1962 it was finally pulled down. The new facility, in line with the intention of its authors, is based on respecting the surroundings and history of the location, co-creating a friendly urban space and at the same time intriguing everyone with bold solutions and original shape of building’s body. According to the intention of the designers, the building reflects the musical order and construction of the instrument whose physical structure becomes filled with life and sounds. For the first time the building of the Philharmonic in Szczecin filled with music in September 2014. This is the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Szczecin’s music experience.

Swinoujscie Beach

Reviewed By Cruzmann - Brookfield, Wisconsin

I like this beach because it is a long, clean beach with a great deal of access for only a low parking fee or free if you ride a bike. The view of the Ferries and ships is great and the water, while cool, is nice and clear (where we accessed there were no weeds or trash). Having a hotel on the beach is nice but not really necessary because of the ease of getting access. Bring your lunch and an umbrella as well as your beach towels.

Waly Chrobrego Promenade (Hakenterrasse)

Waly Chrobrego (German name: Hakenterrasse) - Promenade with great views on Oder river and port, a favourite among the locals and tourists. Many cafes are situated here. See the Maritime museum (Muzeum Morskie), situated just in the center of Waly which houses some artifacts from history of the city and also has big collections of African and maritime artifacts.

On the banks of the river, this Promenade makes for a nice walk by several historic buildings. One can then walk by the river itself, choose from a few restaurants for food or drink. Walking distance to some nice park settings as well. A nice few hours for an afternoon visit to Szczecin.

I've now been here twice. The grounds are absolutely immense. The care, respect and decor is beyond any cemetery I have visited in the States, so something to see for cultural comparison. Several monuments and special memorials are located within the cemetery. On this visit, also visited the graves of 5 family members.

Kolobrzeg Molo

Reviewed By Jan J - Warsaw, Poland

In January, we rented an apartment in the Villa Piaskowa, from Sun&Snow. It was right by the molo (pier) opposite the Bałtyk Spa Hotel. There was snow and winds of 100 km/hr. Taking a walk along the "molo" was interesting with the stormy waves splashing over our heads as we tried to keep on our feet. The seagulls propelled by the wind , wizzing past at super high speeds. The next day all was quiet. The sun broke through the clouds. The sea was calm and their was hardly any wind at all. We walked along to the end of the "molo" where the tame seagulls were almost eating out of the hands of people feeding them. There is a cafe at the end where you can have some warm mulled wine, tea or coffee and you can look back at the coastline where the beach was covered in white snow. Some people like the Mountains , but it's a great experience to be at the seaside in the middle of a stormy winter.Plenty of places to eat and walk , including the nearby port. There was even a man playing Amazing Grace on a trumpet at almost zero temperatures. I recommend a visit.(if you like the winter fresh air) We have already booked for next winter.

The port has a nice vibe to it, with shops, markets and restaurants nearby. There are pirate ships doing short trips out into the bay and a torpedo boat which can be visited. The lighthouse is nearby and the area is very picturesque.
