Stangehuvud Naturreservat

We stayed nearby this area for a couple of days and really felt like walking that day. We parked on Drottninggatan close to the harbourfront. From there we entered the Reserve from the North (near the Marina). As soon as you go around the corner from the Marina you'll be quite surprised. You wouldn't expect such an impressive Reserve so close to a town. It's really just around the corner but feels like another world. The views are amazing and the rocks and rock formations impressive. We brought our dog with (an English Bulldog). She did amazingly well. Just at the very beginning on the Northern Entrance a few steps leading up were too big and steep, so we carried her quick. Later on there's an easy trail leading back to town. Or you can follow a tougher route (sometimes no route at all) leading towards the famous Fyrhuset. We had fun exploring the area as did our dog. Nice views and nature and it was just fun climbing around here. Sometimes taking a break - sitting on some rocks - to take in the amazing landscape. If you only need to park up to 4 hours, then there's a free parking lot just south of the Gullmarsgymnasiet. If you are around this area - even an hour or two away - be sure not to miss out on this terrific Nature Reserve.

This short hike was recommended by Hannah while we waited to have our room cleaned. We arrived before check-in time. The hike was a terrific way to spend a couple of hours before we went into to Grebbestad for a late lunch. I would recommend this easy hike for anyone. The rocks are easy to move on and the path is well marked if you use the “red route”. Since there was a strong wind we got to see wonderful waves crashing over the rocks.

This is a nature reserve close to Västervik. You can cycle, horse ride, hike and bath there. We did the “yellow” Skogsslingan hike path (2.6 km) with our two little children. The walk was nice and easy, beautiful views. Wörth a visit.

Dear Travelers. If you take a trip by car along the westcoast of Sweden make a stopover here. This "zoo" is much more then just that, i principle all their animals are endangered species. They work actively with conservation globally. There are in principle two sections Domestic and Wild, the total span is from Snowleopards to rare swedish chickenbreeds. There is a Hotel on the premises which gives you access to to the facilities "off hours" A good restautrant is by the hotel and in summer also local fastfood in the park. I would advice a visit a weekday during winter when the visitors are less. Stay overnight and enjoy! This is one of the most enjoyable ways for a family of any agemix to support animal and environment conservation

A nice place to observe very closely these huge animals! They also have a nice shop, a very snack shop (with great waffles) and a restaurant (closed at the time of our visit). You can take your own car a follow the path in your own pace or ride with their train. In our experience, we took our own car and had some “near” encounters, but with the train, the moose come really close!

Here you find exhibitions, guided tours and all the information you need. When you have visited the exhibition at Naturum Vattenriket and replenished your energy levels in the restaurant, you should take the time to explore the biosphere reserve.
