Arvika Kanot & Turistcenter offers you canoe trips in one of Sweden's richest water area with almost 800 km canoe trails. The many lakes and rivers in and around Arvika invite to fantastic canoe tours in various nature. The Arvika Kanot & Turistcenter offers several tours for new beginners as well as for the more experienced person and are suitable for individuals, families and groups. The canoe tours are in Glaskogen, Rinnen, Josse alv, Kola alv, Varmeln or Lillalven. All canoe trails are marked on Arvika Friluftskarta. Canoe packages offer are including a canoe (2 persons), paddles, extra paddle, lifejacket, canoe cart, rope, sponge, tarpaulin, waste-bags, route description and maps as well as transport on some of the tours. You can buy provisions packages and kitchen- and outdoor equipment are for rent. It is also possible to rent a canoe for individual trips. At the canoe center you can also try climbing in the high rope course.

In Sweden, you have a unique opportunity, you can camp for free in any forest as long as you do not litter! Me and my teenage kids went for a camping trip west of glaskogen. We brought some Freshwater, tents, slepping bags etcetera and fishing rods. In three days we did catch 19 pikes with a weight of up to 4.2 kg, off course we did put them all back. We also did caught some big perches 750 gram which we put on the camp fire and had for dinner. We saw moose, eagles and the remains of a moose which probaly had been caught by wolves or died of age. We put the tent next to a small stream with a beautiful scenery. It is all for free, but be careful to put out the fire and do not litter.

Rackstadmuseet is a museum dedicated to the artists who were part of the Rackstad artist colony by the beginning of the 20th century including Gustaf Fjaestad, Björn Ahlgrensson and Fritz Lindström among others. Arts and crafts has and has had an important role in the cultural landscape of Arvika and is included in the museum collections as well. Temporary Exhibitions are continuously displayed, focusing on both historical and contemporary artists. During the summer months you can also visit the sculpture Christian Erikssons own studio with loads of artworks and furniture from the period. In the cafe you can allways eat homemade lunch or cakes during the museums opening hours.

This is an interesting museum in delightful and authentic surroundings. Really worth a detour, or better still hire a bike from Arvika and cycle here(30mins) and continue on to the scenic lake racken a few miles north. Really enjoyable experience.

Interesting place. We went in to look at some heat pumps , but the collection of cars , motorbikes and cycles is very interesting Worth a visit if your in the town.

This is a very nice place to visit for a 3.5 km walk which can be shortened if you want. It goes a long a road with wheel chair access part of the way with plenty of flowers and trees to watch. At the end of road there are bbq waiting for you to fire up (fire wood available). If you continue you will pass old coal burning sites and also several Bronze Age burial sites. The last parts brings you up to bergs Klatt with nice view of the lake. And a jungle tour will bring you back to parking space for the car.
There are several signposts on the route explaining what you see. Also there are signpost on the route in Swedish about how to make you feel well.
Well worth a nice walk in great nature. Highly recommended.

Very nice walk! Lots of flowers. Lots of benches to sit and rest to enjoy the scenery. Take time to relax and enjoy view of the lake which has a nice Fountain in the middle. There is a large kids play area. There are very nice walk way under a long trellis.

Every time I visit Arvika, I love to take this walk along the late and long the way, I walk past this beautiful church.......
I always thing to myself, what it was like back when this church was built and think about how nice and friendly the folks would have been that are buried there and wondering how they were.

According to legend the cave entrance the giants castle. Even on a hot day it feels cold near the entrance. It should have 50 meter long cave system (I was not in it). The surroundings are rocky with a small creek you have to cross to get to the cave. It seems like some people stayed overnight, so there is a spot for bonfire.
9. Arvika Konsthantverk
Arvika konsthantverk was founded in 1922. It is the oldest co-operative handicraft society in Sweden. One of its initiators was Maja Fjaestad, who worked within the group of artists living and working near Lake Racken. Over the years well-trained craftsmen and craftswomen have brought new influences, which have been combined with the local tradition.
