Western Norway, Norway Food Guide: 10 Bar food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Stavanger

October 3, 2019 Phylicia Berquist

Reviews on Bar food in Stavanger, Western Norway, Norway. With about 120,000 people, Stavanger is Norway’s fourth-largest city and a fascinating mix of old and new. Its history stretches back deep into the Middle Ages. Stavanger was once a tranquil coastal market town and then later an important fishing port. But it was the 1969 discovery of oil offshore that forever changed the now bustling city’s fortunes and landscape. Don’t miss the well-preserved old town (Gamle Stavanger), the unique Canning Museum or the 12th-century Stavanger Cathedral.

We are a nordic cocktailbar in the heart of Stavanger. Just off the popular colourful street, we are situated in the lovely alleyway there, just across from the lovely Café Bacchus. Our focus is quality cocktails, based on nordic ingridients. Apart from t

If you enjoy cocktails, then this place is a must ! its an absolute surprise to taste these flavours. The guys here are top notch innovative. They blend in local ingredients and spirits like acquavitt in the most imaginative ways possible. I enjoyed one with acquavitt, whisky, beetroot juice and citrus and egg white and what not! Ask the bartender for his favourites - you wont be disappointed!

Went here with a friend during our 5 day stay in stavanger. Loved the atmosphere and the burger selections was excellent - they even have a vegan burger which was delicious. My friend ordered the chicken burger and Parmesan fries and loved it as well (pictured below) Prices were reasonable for Norway and the service was excellent. My friends meal came out a bit later than mine (maybe 3 minutes after) and they gave us free onion rings to apologise. We were very impressed especially since you have to at the bar and we ordered seperately. They also serve Local beer for one of the lowest cost pints I had seen all week. Definitely recommend!!

Visited this steakhouse for dinner last week. Nothing fancy. The steaks were lean and well cooked. Reasonable selection of international beverages. One of our party had the chicken burger and another had fish and chips. Both said it was nothing to write home about. Typically Norway is expensive compared to other European countries.Hi and thanks for you feedback. It sounded like you had an average evening and that it was nothing to write home about. We always aim for better experiences for our customers. It should be something to write home about :-).We take your feedback seriously, we will evaluate and hopefully you will have a better experience next time you visit. Thanks again.Best regardsJarle Unhjem (Owner)

Company dinner. Waiter not patiente enough, should always expect someone being smart.Regarding the food that was not what you expect for the price, Stavanger has a lot of other places with better value.Vegetables was overcooked and almost soggy.Would compare dinner like dinner at Egon in Stavanger (not compliment)

CIRKUS

I've visited Cirkus twice in the last two weeks, both times with large groups of colleagues (12 or more) and both times we had a great experience which has become quite the norm on our visits.Friendly, attentive staff behind the bar really make it great, and their 199NOK planks (5 x 1/3 pint) are really the best deal in the city as far as I'm concerned and really allow you to try from the best of what they have on offer.Cozy, comfortable seating on the inside, and wonderfully heated patio area that even in the cold you sit comfortably without a coat or jacket.Great beer selection, different strokes for different folks.Small selection of cakes and little bites available as well, but still have yet to try any.

Dognvill Burger

Stylish Burger joint at the down-town area in Stavanger. Laid back atmosphere, fantastic burgers and lively bar, located in a reconstructed wooden house from the early 1860`s. Kitchen closes one hour before the restaurant does.

Based on all your recommendations this was my first stop in Stavanger. I had the Blamandag burger which was amazing. I love blue cheese and it was loaded. I tried the onion rings on the recommendation of the bartender. I wish i had gone for the truffle fries instead. Onion rings were simple battered onions with not much seasoning. Atmosphere was great on the main floor as a pub. More family dining on second floor. Don’t drink too much beer or you have to make the trip to the third floor bathrooms. Burger, beer and onion rings runs around $60. Canadian so for casual food it is pricey but everything seems to be a bit pricey in Norway. Thank you very much for both your visit and your valuable feedback, Susan! We really appreciate it! So happy to hear you liked your Blåmandag. Welcome back to try our truffle fries!Best regards from Kristine in Døgnvill
