Had a beautifully prepared and presented steak and a lovely bottle of wine. Gorgeous and perfect. The decor in this old hotel has to be seen to be appreciated. The owners did a wonderful job in restoring. It's close to everything and not pricy. Highly recommended.

This bar is attached to the Esplanade hotel where we stayed for 4 nights, used it a few times, good atmosphere and a great selection of craft beers, not cheap, but coming from the UK we found nowhere in Australia that was cheap!! Staff were really efficient and friendly, a far cry from the staff in the adjacent Esplanade bar!!

The South Beach Hotel is a great little local hotel for both food and drinks.We have been several times over the last week firstly sitting out side enjoying the afternoon Autumn sun and a cold beer. Secondly sitting in the main dining room beside the wood fire enjoying Sunday lunch with friends.The hotel has been beautifully renovated.There is a good range of beers on tap and the food is of a good quality and quantity.Our friends all really enjoyed their Sunday lunch especially the pork roast of the day for $20, fish and chips and the slow cooked lamb shoulder.There are daily lunch and dinner specials which are really great value.Well worth a visit.

The Sail & Anchor was recommended by a local as a good local for sea food. We enjoyed the atmosphere but not much else. 60 minutes after ordering we checked to find it had been missed. We have two seafood platters for two between two couples. The prawns, fish and mussels very edible but the salt and pepper squid was unpalatable. At the end of the night we had only an apology for our 90 minute wait. With the recommendation I can't say that our experience was indicative of the norm here but I was disappointed. Hi Trevor. Found this place by chance and was pleasantly surprised with the great dinner service and food. Good selection of seafood beer and wine. Prices are reasonable and the outdoor dining area has the most amazing view across the river. In town for business and made it back for another meal. Would suggest a great place for lunch especially with the view. Also has many gluten free options and off street parking if drivingThank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovey review. Very casual, live music nights, food is average but the menu has a range of seafood, fish & chips always a safe bet. The "mice" are great as an appetiser (very, very hot spicy!). The Clancy's house white is excellent value. Outdoor eating area at back and the kids can run around in the adjoining park. Smoking corner under front verandah. They have a good wine list and a good menu of light or share plates.Friendly service, but American Express cards are not accepted.Food and drinks are ordered and paid for at the ground floor bar. Our meal was served to our table.Seating is available on the pavement, inside on the ground floor or on the first floor.Food is delicious, but the cheese fondue doesn't have a heat source under it, so the cheese solidifies before yiu finish it.Worth going to, it's a different experience.
