They constantly exceeded our expectations and went out of their ways to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were literally blown away by their heart warming gestures. The property is a typical Tainan style 'Old House' and has been in the family for over 50 years. The owner did a fantastic job on the interior design. Also the area that this hotel is located in is beautiflully authentic and offers great 'old style' bars and restaurants with good quality food and drinks and service. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at Shennong 147 and would love to come back one day. Out of all of 8 places I've visited in Taiwan this was by far my most favourite one.”

Reviewed By BefanklyIt is quite a good place for staying a couple of days. You can ride to several famous street food vendors. The hotel could provide the scooter rental. Speaking of the experience in the hotel, the room is big enough to hang out but a little warm. The only imperfection is the showerhead. It's hard to control the water temperature.

Reviewed By Debra GWe did not enjoy our stay here. The bathroom was so tiny, and everything had to be removed from the bathroom before the shower was turned on. We are not very fussy with accommodation but we do like it to be comfortable, this was not.

She addressed it and be so helpful after all. Hot bath and good environment, what else you can expect, thank you!

Reviewed By bingchen34This hostel is hidden inside an alley, all the way at the end. Both it’s interior and exterior are well designed. The hosts are nice and provides flexibility and assistance quickly. The entire property is shoes-off-indoor-slippers-only so it is basically dustless and comfortable. The layout of the economy room where I am staying in is good. It gives off a homey vibe. I would say the only improvement there should be is WiFi, I was getting a somewhat slow connection since there seems to only have one router for the upper floors. Aside from that, the location, service, and price make this place a great value stay.

Reviewed By Caoxia HWe were received with a warm welcome by Carter and his team. Everything was prearranged very conveniently prior our arrival. Hotel is in the neighborhood of good restaurants and there is a big park close by. We came with a family with kids and my brother in a wheelchair. There is an elevator and the showers are very large so it was no problem at all. I would definitely recommend Go Happy Day!

Authentic Japanese living in Tainan
Reviewed By todalibertadWe booked the entire house after reviewing web comments and Facebook descriptions. The house is located in west central Tainan in a quiet neighborhood. It is one of the connected houses in a long alley found typically in Tainan. The house was remodeled in traditional Japanese style. It consists of an upper unit and a lower unit, both are unique. We rented both units. The lower unit has a small anteroom, living room, small rock garden and bathroom. The anteroom and living room are floored with tatami (Japanese bamboo mat) and can be separated by a sliding screen. The bathroom has a shower plus wooden tub for authentic Japanese bath experience. It is next to the small rock garden. There is a LCD TV, kettle for tea, dehumidifier and air conditioner. The upper unit is reached by very steep stairs. The rooms are slightly bigger as there is no rock garden. The ceiling is higher. Personally I really liked the upper unit because of higher ceiling. I have attached my photos of the upper unit in this review. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. There is virtually no noise at night. There is a small Taoist temple and small fresh market nearby. Within a walkable one kilometer radius you can visit most of the cities landmarks such as Fort Provintia 赤崁樓, Confucius Temple, Koxinga Shrine, Literature Museum, Lin Department store, etc. it is close to all essential Tainan eateries especially ones on Guohua Street 國華街. Check in place is not at the house. You have to go to manager's place which is located in another B&B. Once checked in they will send you by taxi (we drove our car) to the house. No food is allowed in the house to protect the tatami flooring. But don't worry as restaurants and eateries are conveniently closeby. We maintained contact with owner/manager by social media for needs such as cleaning and advice for restaurants. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet at the Hisato-an. Tainan is a charming city full of tradition and amazing Taiwanese foods.

Came across Fairytale House through Taiwanese local blog & decided to give my children an extra-special Minsu HomeStay We book their 2nd house (they have two location - 1st house is near KongMiao+FuZhong Old Street while 2nd House is near Tainan Food Street +Zheng Zhong Shopping District. We are glad we made the right choice - from Fairytale 2nd houseturn right & walk along GuoHua Street & you will find lots of food street stalls & boutique shops. Booking - it is fairly easy - Fairytale House respond fairly quickly on email & Facebook messaging. They accept 50% deposit via PayPal. Location - From KS airport, we took KRT to KS Railway Station. Train ride is approximately 50mins. Once arrive Tainan, catch a taxi & headed to You Ai Street. Fairy tale 2nd house is along a row of 2-3 storey shop houses directly opposite "Sha-Ke-Li-Ba". The owner is renovating the ground floor to be a cafe so from the outside, it really doesn't look anything like a minsu. Room - We booked the Cinderella room for 4pax which is located on the third floor. Quite a challenge if you have lots of luggage. There are 2 rooms on each floor sharing a common area. The housekeepers are wonderful! Over a cup of ice tea, they are very patient to brief us on the dos & don'ts & provide us very useful maps for food, shopping & attractions. All the doors (main door & door to the stairs) are secured by digital sensor locks so it's very safe. My kids went crazy the minute they stepped into the room. It's every girls dream - bunk bed with slide & a queen size bed shaped like a carriage. Very clean & smells wonderful. Cable TV (with HBO, Cinemax, local channels) + free WiFi!!! Bathroom : Simple basic setup. No bathtub, only PVC shower screen. Breakfast : At check-in, we will preorder our breakfast for the next morning. Mainly sandwiches & egg rolls with tea or bottled milk. The housekeeper will placed them outside your room around 8am. Overall : A very family friendly stay! Highly recommended for family with kids below 12.
