Just in town for the Virginia Garden Tour. Ate here on the recommendation of our Airbnb host. A quick walk through an interesting neighborhood to this quirky, airy local favorite. Food was GREAT, fresh, creative, and the service was excellent. Unpretentious and fun. Multi-generational clientele. Just sorry we were too full to try the yummy looking desserts!

Frankie’s did not disappoint again. Ethan was a very attentive and polite server. The surf and turf was amazing. If you haven’t had a steak here. You are missing one of the best I ever had. Tender cooked to perfection. Dessert of creme brûlée was very tasty. We will be back.

Jerry's Family Restaurant

Reviewed By Paula S

This was our second visit for Jerry's, the first was about a year ago. We wanted breakfast but arrived at lunch time to discover that Sunday has a limited menu where you choose a meat with sides. Jerry's was crowded and we had to wait for a table which was fine because we got to see a variety of dishes being served and it all looked so good. I ordered fried chicken legs with fried apples, mac and cheese, and stewed tomatoes. The chicken was greasy but good. The mac and cheese and stewed tomatoes lacked seasoning and I had to spike both with numerous shakes of salt. The apples were only ok, they looked great but didn't taste that good. This visit would get a grade of C but I'll go back to try it on a regular menu day as our first visit there when we ordered from the menu was much better than this visit.

Table 50 is unpretentious, but has a great foodie vibe and atmosphere. The menu is made of seasonal locally sourced (for the most part) items with a signature in-house preparation. From the starters, the salads to the entrees, the offerings include seafood, meat and poultry and all were excellent. The wine list is above average, but not too large. And the desserts - they are fabulous. Our server was knowledgeable and very helpful and kept dinner going at the right pace.

Stopped by on a Saturday for lunch while attending a convention at Hotel Roanoke and was really, really disappointed.Very slow service and no sense of urgency by anyone involved. Had a $10 Gift Certificate from the convention and the cashier had to ask someone whether she could accept it. Then she told the person behind me that it would take 15 minutes or so for their order and implied they should go somewhere else. Not impressed at all.

After a awful experience with the valets at The Hotel Roanoke, it was redeemed by the staff at Alexander’s! From the time we walked in to the time we left everything was perfect. Made a reservation and asked for the window seat. They had it ready for us. Everything from the filet, seafood and pork chop was cooked to perfection. The staff was attentive and always ready. Great job Alexander’s! Will be back every visit to Roanoke. We are so happy that you enjoyed your dinner at Alexander’s! We also appreciate your remarks about the important unofficial public relations role that our professional staff play in the community- aren’t they the Best? Thanks for your lovely review and we look forward to your next visit. May I note that because we are a small restaurant with changing seating needs, we cannot promise specific tables, even to our most loyal customers. Please dont be disappointed if your “favorite spot” is not available next time- all of our tables are good tables, and you’ll get the same great food, service, and reasonable prices.

Went here for lunch with friends during a recent visit to Roanoke. We all raved over our choices. My mermaid mojito was amazing and one of the best I've ever had. Same for my shrimp and grits. Another had the BLT which was enormous, one friend had a burger which she claimed was one of the best ever, and another had the crab chowder which was also amazing. Interesting decor. Definitely recommend. Very friendly staff!

We had dinner here on our stay in Roanoke. The service is good. The food is very regional and reminded me of my grandparents. The quality is exceptional. The kale is amazing and so is the fried chicken. The bread pudding is outstanding and an excellent choice for dessert. I would defintely recommend stopping here if you like southern comfort food.
