We stayed here over Easter holiday. Location is the best with Flinders St Station right in front of it, Woolies and Coles within 3min walk, and restaurants and takeaway shops being everywhere nearby. Even for sightseeing, all the major spots are within walking distance. With the room and facility, we stayed in a family room consisting of 2 bunk beds and a king size bed. It was quite roomy and the ceiling is very high so you don't feel too congested. The building has a share kitchen and fridge and laundry. If you are staying here with your car, you can find a parking building or street car park. We didn't have issues to find a spot on street as it was Easter and the city was quiet Am definitely coming back here for my next visit in Melbourne!! * Photo is Flinders Station, a minute from the hotel!

The best point is location, if you need to go to Southern Cross early or late, it`s perfect, because it´s so close and the breakfast was good. First floor is good, good bar and kitchen, my room was third floor, just 3 shower and 3 toilets, there are few, because there are a lot of room, about bed was uncomfortable, cleanliness really bad. I just recommend this backpacker if you need to stay close to Southern Cross otherwise you look for another one.

Discrimination really unpleasant experience ?

Staff exhibited discriminatory behaviour toward me on new year's eve? when I tried explaining this they asked me to leave and said they are not refunding the hundreds of dollars I had already paid in good faith .(which is a Rip off) At 1030 pm at night I had no where to stay People don't get upset for no reason . DO NOT PAY A WEEK IN ADVANCE . YHA hostel is a better option by far I have stayed many times and always felt comfortable and welcome ?

Very Happy Guest Here

Reviewed By BrianS815

Out of all the Halls Gap hostels I've stayed at the YHA is officially my favourite. The place has a really good atmosphere and the owners are some of the nicest I've met whilst travelling - they were happy to share local knowledge and made my stay all the nicer. Location is great and the facilities were clean and well maintained - they are really committed to being eco friendly and covid safe. Also I booked via the YHA itself so the price for my private room was cheaper than what I saw on the booking sites. The only negative I can think of was the type of toilet roll holder they have in the mens' toilets. Will definitely stay here again!!!

Manager Max definitely is one of the most abornal person I have ever met.

Reviewed By qingguoc

I could not image that there should be such kind of person in the world. Worst of worst in terms of manners. And that is definitely one of the worst hostels I ever lived here in Melbourne. If I could give a rate of 0, that would be my first choice! In a four-bed room, the rest of the three snored heavily all throughout the night. And this lasted for three nights in a row. The washroom is a place that I have to bend my will before I enter it. A towel left in my room on the floor for over a week without any staff coming to pick it, an indication that the room has not been cleaned nearly the same period of time.

Very accommodating staff in a nice space

I stayed in a 6 bed dorm my first couple nights but it was really noisy and curtains weren’t open until around midday so I felt I was tiptoeing around some annoyed guests. I asked to switch rooms and they found me one straight away, gave me new linen & a towel and it was so much better for my remaining few nights. The courtyard and living room were lovely and big. My only issue was it was pretty dirty throughout the hostel and showers were often blocked or didn’t work in the dorm en-suite so sometimes I was having to go up and down the building trying to find a free working bathroom. The hot tap also fell off in my hand once. I reckon this is down to it being such an old building so not totally their fault. Overall happy with my stay at the nunnery

Stayed there for only 3-4 nights while moving to Melbourne, the location is very convenient, close to cafes and shops and St Kilda attractions such as the Lune Park and Palais Theatre. There is a bar downstairs, the stuff was a bit 'how ya goin' but that's all right I guess as times were not super optimistic with the COVID situation in Melbourne and stuff
