Letâs start with the fact they call this place a taproom. There isnât anything except a small corner turned into a bar. We spent over a $100 for sheer mediocrity. I ordered salad bar and beef barley soup. $18. Salad bar was the equivalent of Golden Corral. A lightly poured glass of Chardonnay was another $10. My husband ordered wings for an appetizerâ- sorry no wings on a Friday night He the ordered scallops. To be specific 6 small scallops with white rice, the same carrots that are in the salad bar and plain steamed green beans. Nothing nothing to discuss other than the $34 price tag. That and a beer got us a tab for over $100 including tip for again a very mediocre waitress who was unsure of herself and forgot to put in his clam chowder. HUGE Huge disappointment. Over priced and not worth a penny. I donât care how many wine awards you may win. You have been warned. Hi Phoebelove. We really take it to heart when we get a "bad" review, because it is an opportunity for us to learn and grow and to improve our process. We agree that the scallop dish needed some work, so we took it off the special menu weeks ago. I could go on about how the rest of your review makes no sense to me, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am sorry that your experience did not hit a homerun for you. This restaurant was recommended to us by one of the staff at Hildene, the Lincoln family estate. The food and service were beyond superb. The atmosphere is very relaxing as well. We told our server that we were very hungry and he made sure that our food was delivered quite promptly and it was ALL delicious. The meal started with a cranberry muffin, followed by warm fresh rolls, salad, entree and dessert. Overall a GREAT experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.Michelle,Mission accomplished!!! We are always looking for new and upscale restaurants around Stratton so were excited to try Morgan Bane's Steakhouse in this hotel. It seemed to have a nice ambience. Right off the bat the service was slow. (And the restaurant was practically empty. We ordered drinks and then nothing happened. Finally the waiter came back with the drinks after an interminable wait. We ordered dinner and again everything was slow. For two of us the food was cold. The waiter brought it back to kitchen and blamed it on the fact that the kitchen was " a long way away". This needless to say took a long time. My sons kids meal, was not even edible and he is not a picky eater. He ordered chicken parm and frankly all it was, was a full chicken breast slapped on a grille or something with no cheese. The pasta sauce was the worst we ever had. Finally to top things off, when the bill came it had an automatic 20% gratuity added to the top because we had 7 people, 4 of which were children. If you are going to add a 20% gratuity on top of the full bill (including the tax) you better ensure top notch service, and this was not even close. A couple of meals were okay but this bill ran me over $400!

Pricey, yes, but the food really delivers. The scallops, ribeye, and lamb were standouts. Our server, Ray, was really wonderful! There is one good red wine that isn't a fortune: a 2012 La Rose St Emilion--still marked up as all restaurant wine is, but probably the best quality for the price at $65. Don't stay at the Equinox; stay somewhere less pricey and spend your cash at the restaurant. Worth it.
