Reviewed By the_lofty_atticWorked really well as a stopover location on way down through France. It’s in the edge of Nevers, easily accessible from the motorways. Simple, clean rooms and breakfast buffets in the Ibis budget style. Nevers is a lovely river side town too, and we enjoyed an evening stroll and dinner.

Reviewed By r15972Clean, basic room. Nothing special but it fulfils it's intended purpose. The mattresses were a little on the firm side but you cannot cater to everyone taste. Good for a stop off on a long journey. 24 hour check in is also useful.

Hassle Castle
Reviewed By Raegan HWe re-named this awful place the “Hassle Castle.” Our family showed up to this unwelcoming and unkept chateau and were devastated by the accommodations. The marketing for this castle promised use of a living and dining room, but to our disappointment these two rooms were off limits. We were a family reunion of 17, and were told that we would have to entertain members of our family on our beds. Within 10 minutes we departed and as luck would have it we found a WAY better castle to stay at. Skip this one for any event style stays.

Reviewed By jrfranci1With Campaniles you know what you are getting. They have a standard format. In our case with the numbers in the group it was ideal for our booking. My only criticism of Campaniles is the lack of selection in the menu, as it is very limited.

Wonderful respite after long day of driving
Reviewed By finder45Conveniently located near the autoroute, but secluded and quiet. Well restored old chateau with modern rooms and beautiful (peaceful) terrace and garden. The proprietor was on site to greet us and help my wife and me get situated and provided helpful information about what to see and where to dine in the area. This is a small, well run hotel offering beautiful accommodations with friendly and helpful service. We highly recommend it.

Reviewed By Vera KDated, run down tired, shabby decor. Double bed was way too small and pillows were too flat. Breakfast was not good and not worth the money. Not good value for money and I would not book this hotel again.

Such a noisy hotel, sleep was impossible
Reviewed By JDFornellsI stay in budget hotels every year en route to and from Menorca. This is the most disappointing place I have ever stayed. The room was tiny. I was on my own and found the room very small, when it has three people in it I dread to think what it must be like. On the positive side the bed was very comfortable, the shower lovely and warm and the welcome biscuits and toiletries very much appreciated. The colour of the decor - bright purple and yellow was a bit nauseating but the real problem was the noise. I had travelled all day and was exhausted so I ate a quick pizza at a local pizzeria (the only local choice apart from Chinese or McDonalds) and went to bed early. There was some noise of people coming and going which sounded as though it was in the room but I put this down to the early hour and, as I was so exhausted, it didn't really bother me. At around 2 am though a group of people came in talking loudly and I could hear every word. They appeared to be directly above me because there was the sound of furniture being scraped along the floor and people walking around. It was absolutely deafening. After around half an hour I gave up, had a shower, left the hotel and drove to Calais overnight. I had paid for breakfast but didn't hang around to try it. Very, very disappointing.

Fine for a night
Reviewed By weeherdyThis hotel was booked for us by our breakdown service and was basically a Travelodge type place. Friendly staff, basic but fine buffet breakfast and clean functional room. Long walk through the outskirts into Nevers, which is a bit of an odd place with some great old buildings and some pretty seedy bits. For eating, don't be fooled by the appearance of the restaurant (La Nouvelle Table) at the entrance gate (looks sort of like a chain soulless place). We ate lunch there and it was excellent and very good value...lovely food. It had looked closed the previous evening, hence the long walk into Nevers, (for very poor food choices) but was buzzing when we arrived back!! (Our only issue was that for some reason we were taken to this hotel, 60km from the garage our van was at!)

Over Night Stop
Reviewed By charles mHaving stopped overnight a La Jonquera and had an awful nights sleep due to a poor quality bed at least in this hotel the bed was comfortable thus the plus point to make it a three star rating!! The rooms are dated and the place needs money thrown at it to get it up to a reasonable standard. The shower was great, but the tiles were mouldy, the bed was fine but the room needs painting, the breakfast was fine but the crockery was cracked, the pool looked ok but all the outside furniture needs replacing, now you get the picture. Getting somewhere to eat nearby proved a problem so we had to drive back into Nevers to get fed. The place is very near the motorway but we experienced no noise and to re-iterate we did have a good night's sleep which when traveling is what you are after and this was our cheapest overnight stop at about 37 euros.
