Get a blast of the past in this western Kansas state capital, which was founded in 1854 by a group of anti-slavery activists and later played a key role in the civil rights movement. Visit the Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site, which celebrates those involved in the 1954 Supreme Court decision that deemed segregated schools unconstitutional. Continue your back-in-time travel at Ward Meade Park, which features an early 1900s town, Victorian mansion, one-room schoolhouse and log cabins. View aircraft dating from World War I at the Combat Air Museum, and visit Cedar Crest, the historic Governor's home, overlooking the Kansas River. Aside from historical attractions, Topeka is also known for its world-class motor sports racing site, Heartland Park Topeka, with its record-breaking quarter-mile drag strip. Topeka has its share of cultural attractions as well in the form of numerous art galleries, live theater and local symphony and opera companies. For a great family outing, head over to the Topeka Zoological Park for a visit to the tropical rain forest, naturalistic bear dwelling and the children's petting zoo, featuring llamas and sheep.

Worst holiday Inn express

Toilet was filthy. Walls are dirty. Toilet never shuts off. They won’t fix it. I asked them each day and same answer. They will do it tomorrow. Most Motel 6 is better than this. I stayed at a holiday inn express in another town last week and it was excellent.

Nice Stay

Reviewed By 40s_Couple_Midwest

Our family with two older teens enjoyed the comfortable, clean room, including the sofa bed. The air conditioner fan stayed on and didn't cycle off and on; exactly how we like it. The hotel seemed full but was quiet. The breakfast was good, and there was plenty of room between tables so it didn't feel crowded. We would definitely stay here again. The man at the front desk (I can't remember his name) was very friendly when we checked in, and the woman at the desk when we checked out was also friendly.

Not a happy stay!

First I would like to compliment the staff, especially Erlene at registration. See is and asset to this business. Now, our stay, it wasn’t pleasant. Wifi was very slow. TV is outdated. Problems with an electrical outlet next the desk. No USB ports available. Long black hairs on shower walls. No personal lotions or soap available. No foot stool in the h/c shower. The shower leaked out on the floor. No information about the surrounding community. The refrigerator was a little one with no freezer. The office chair was dirty and the left armrest was loose. The bathroom door was spring loaded so we propped it open with the ice bucket because there was no exhaust fan! No luggage cart available on checkout. With physical disabilities we had to use the wheelchair for a luggage cart! Also on checkout we discovered that the coffee in the dining room was free. Always nice to know on checkout! There is more but I’ll leave it at that. We don’t recommend this hotel!

Reliable Road Trip Stop

I was traveling cross country driving a UHaul truck helping my son move to CA. We stopped at this property for an overnight during our road trip. One expects the lower cost brands of the major hotel marks to be reliably good, and this property met our expectations. Our room was clean and quiet, the breakfast was decent and the price was not bad. I checked in late and the young lady at the desk was very helpful in directing me to a good place to park the truck.

Definetly a boutique hotel with some interesting style choices in the room. I stayed on an upper floor with only a view of some interior court or alley, but that also made the room super quiet from outside noise. I slept pretty well. Pros: Location is great with some good bars/restaurants around. Hotel has style. Staff was very friendly including valet service. Had a nice fire pit you could drink by. Cons: Bar closed pretty early

UNDER RENOVATION AS OF MARCH 18 2022

Sign at front desk about internet temporarily unavailable however we hopefully believed the desk person that said a person was out buying a router though doubtful at 8:30 pm. Never was fixed. No hot water in the sink faucet. Courtyard and gym closed due to renovations with lots of plastic sheeting hanging around. New carpet smelled nice. Breakfast was below average (at best) with a cheap, flavorless coffee dispenser though people were nice and rooms were clean. Hopefully the mattresses and pillows are on the list for 'renovation' as well. Seems like the two free drinks at the converted breakfast bar was a big draw for the guys but had as much ambiance as a rest stop without flush toilets. Passed one guest in the hall with his two free drinks in hand wearing just shorts (no shoes, no shirt). Good parking options and lot was well lit.
