Amazing place to get away from everything, great hosts and food
Reviewed By 83matidPosada Itay is a resort located near the "Santo del Penitente" in Lavalleja. The hotel is a really excellent place to relax and disconnect from everything, just enjoy great accommodations, rest, read and enjoy nature. The hotel has only 5 guest rooms and is ran by its owners. All this makes the experience very personal, the owners really make you feel at home. Rooms are really nice and cozy but designed for relaxing so there is no TV in the rooms or wifi. The decor of the hotel and rooms is very local to the area, most of it is based on antiques bought by the owners so just looking around and asking about the story of every object is a joy. The hotel also has a restaurant with local food, which is homemade, and delicious. The scenery is just magnificent, as the hotel is surrounded by hills in a very scenic plan of the country - definitely great for trekking. I would really recommend this place if you are travelling around Uruguay and would like to disconnect from a couple of days or visit the area.

Pensábamos participar del paseo guiado por los vestigios indígenas, pero cuando llamé y consulté si teníamos un lugar cercano para quedarnos, nos indicaron que ahí mismo tenían algunas habitaciones. Definimos ir el sábado y quedarnos hasta el domingo. Pronosticaban mucho frío y con mis padres de 70 años aprox y mis sobrinos chicos (3 y 8 años), era una incertidumbre si lograríamos pasar bien a pesar del frío. Realmente fue una grata sorpresa lo que encontramos: El lugar hermoso: las sierras, los vestigios de nuestos antepasados, el amplio lugar para caminar y disfrutar la naturaleza y una vista única.. también el parque, el curso de agua, el canto de las aves Instalaciones amplias, prolijas, cuidadas, cálidas, bien calefaccionadas todas, hamacas para los peques, varios lugares donde contemplar el paisaje sin interrupciones. Habitaciones muy cómodas, muy limpias, con muy buena ducha, y colchón bien adecuado para un excelente descanso. La comida casera, deliciosas todas sus opciones (carnes, pastas, entradas, postres, desayunos, meriendas). Sus anfitriones, Adriana y Gustavo, unos genios, muy serviciales, cuidando que cada uno acorde a nuestros intereses y edades vivieramos un fin de semana único.

It could be excelent but...
Reviewed By MagajnaThe property is located in a lovely place. I saw at least twenty five species of birds, yellow, green, red, brown, white. The swimming pools are very good, they have even a heated swimming pool and the atmosphere is fantastic. You may park in front of where you stay and Jorge, the manager, is a very kind man who really wants you to feel good. So what is missing? There is almost no cleaning. Dust is everywhere, new and old spider webs are all around the lodge. Just the bathroom has an acceptable cleaning. Bed linen don't smell good, on the contrary, only you can smell is dust. This place could be a paradise if it were clean.

Reviewed By maesboNos encanto el lugar, rodeado de sierras, muy tranquilo, una casa cómoda y limpia, con habitaciones y baños amplios, tienen estufas y suficiente ropa de cama abrigada y limpia. Ideal para ir en familia. Se puede pescar, hacer caminatas, andar a caballo y los niños disfrutan mucho. Nicolás y Florencia nos atendieron excelente, atentos a todo, divinos con los niños, Florencia cocina riquísimo!! Buenísimas las cuatro comidas y cabe destacar el asado de Nicolás. Mabel también muy atenta y amable. Muy bueno!!

Reviewed By ChewelahBerNuevo Hotel Plaza is a modest hotel in excellent condition that offers a very good room rate for the traveler that is on a budget or a traveler who just wants a good room at a very good price. Located across the street from the beautiful Plaza Libertad which has a beautiful huge water feature (pond) that lights up at night and has many fountains that shoots water high into the air to children and adults delight. The hotel owner Giulliano Maraffi speaks very good English and has many good suggestions on restaurants and other sights. His wife conveniently has the pizza place right next door. The morning breakfast was more than adequate.

Not a hotel, a hostel
Reviewed By Katina BThe most important issue concerning this place is knowing that you are not staying at a hotel as its name indicates. As soon as you know this, you can start describing a very uncomfortable room, extremely noisy, tiny and much close to the reception desk so you can listen to the clerk as if she is actually in your room. The rooms are clean but there is not enough water to take a good shower in the bathroom, and last but not least, our side lights broke down and nobody could fix them. Being there was quite hard during the night due to the noises and the smell of desinfectant around... Of course, it is a cheap place to stay, in downtown Minas, and you are given a continental breakfast. If you are young, no problem I guess, but do not try it if you are over 40!

Excelente lugar y maravillosos anfitriones
Reviewed By danielgonzalog2022Fuimos sorprendidos por un increible lugar, conducido por Giovana y Alejandro, de los mejores anfitriones que hemos conocido. El fácil acceso a todos los sitios turísticos en el entorno de Minas, era algo esperado; pero La Serena sumó un plus que convirtió nuestro viaje en perfecto. Naturaleza, animales (perros, cabras, caballos...) hermosos, mansos y juguetones (ideal para niños y jóvenes), decorado con muy buen gusto, infraestructura perfecta (varias zonas para descanso, privadas y comunes, un tonel alpino que a nuestro regreso de las recorridas por la noche nos garantizaba un relax perfecto, quincho exterior con parrillero, cocina cacera de las que ya no se encuentran, gran variedad de bebidas con y sin alcohol (muchas artesanales o de producción local). Y especialmente resaltar la gran atención y esmero que ambos brindan a sus huéspedes, adaptándose a cada necesidad. Gracias Giovana y Alejandro. Sitio muy recomendable.
