We came to village of Villa Serrana for peace and quiet, and the scenic views of the Uruguayan sierras. Finding this excellent restaurant in this lovely setting was an unexpected plus. We enjoyed both lunch and dinner here on our short stay. For lunch we had a huge chef's style salad and the ubiquitous breaded beef cutlet (milanesa) with fries. For dinner, the ravioli special of the day and a huge steak. Everything was very fresh; the service was great. When we came back for dinner, the staff greeted us like old friends.

Been here several times (Lunch & Dinner) I have had other items here that were always good but I liked the steak here best, asked for rare (muy muy jugosa; but there's always been English-speaking waiters) and got it. Some places give you medium rare or medium even though I ask for rare. Our friends liked it too.
Reasonable prices. When the weather's nice, great to sit out on the sidewalk under a big umbrella. Very popular place with the locals and right on the busier square. The only thing to watch out for is how big the portions are. My solution is to split something if anyone is willing and then I probably will have room for dessert!

un restaurante junto al campamento Arequita que brinda excelentes desayunos, almuerzos, cenas. Variedades a la carta, parrilla y postres caseros. Abierto todos los días y con buena relación calidad -precio. Vale la pena visitarlo

Good stop in Minas to have some bites. We wanted to have lunch and it was quite late (3 p.m.), but it was still open, and even more people arrived after us. Good service. We had the "plato del día", at a discount price and were not disappointed.
We did not have any dessert, but they look tempting.
However, skip the coffee --dreadful.

Es bien un parador rústico. Se come muy bien y muy barato. Sirven comidas rápidas tradicionales, pizzas y parrilla. Los viernes tienen show en vivo y se arma baile. Muy divertido!

We got a table for 12 and asked for 2 salads and 4 braseros. The braseros were pretty expensive compared to other places, and the salad had a slug and dirt in it.
The owner's solution to this was a bad attitude and a 4% discount.
We will never come back to this place.

It's situated right next to the Ancap petrol station in Minas, on Route 8 (Montevideo - Minas). We have stopped there on the way to our homestead in Lavalleja. However, this time at 2 p.m. we went in, but had to leave. There was a big party going on, and the level of noise made conversation over lunch practically impossible.
A pity, because the food is good and not too expensive.

Muy buen lugar. Cálido, buena música ambiente.
Hay comida variada. En mi caso fuimos por una promo de Pizza de 2x1. Vale la pena. Son muy ricas y el tamaño es pizzeta familiar.
