Surprisingly pleasant place to stay

Reviewed By Teuchter_11

Arrived here after a long drive and some bad hotel experiences and the approach to the hotel made me a little anxious but a soon as i got to reception I relaxed , for although it's not a 5 star place it looked clean, well laid out and reasonably stylish in the public areas. In fact it turned out to be lovely. The rooms are basic but adequate , all have sea views and are quite at night. Lots of greenery including 6 Baobab trees. Good wifi. no A/C. right on beach. Very reasonably priced and better than basic cooking in the restaurant. Maybe the descriptions run away from reality a bit but full marks for trying. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice bungalows, nice gardening, swimming pool

Reviewed By KatrienS955

We ended our travels in Madagascar here, spending 2 days in this hotel. The hotel is run by a NGO educating the local population on local flora and fauna, planted part of the mangrove at the beach, and runs the baobab forest nearby. The bungalows are very nice and spacious, have 24 hours electricity, but limited number of plugs. The hotel has a restaurant, and the food is nice, but we had the same 2 options both days we were there. There is also a nice, half open area with sofas, and a small swimming pool. Furthermore, the hotel organises several excursions, we did the one in a traditional boat to the mangrove, which was great; and the zebucart ride to the baobab forest. The latter is not as comfortable as the boat!

Good option, clean and quiet - even if service is hit and miss

Reviewed By funtyone

Rather average and adequate rooms, with a distressing amount of flies, and lacking in charm with functional bathrooms set in very pretty surroundings amidst masses of bougainvillea and huge butterflies and close to a wonderful beach where you can watch the fish coming in. Bungalows were on two levels with the upper ones missing out on a sea view but closer down and beside the very nice pool there was a good view of the beach. Highly recommend the massage too in the little hut by the pool where for a very modest sum I had a superb massage whilst the sun set and with the waves crashing down outside. Restaurant food was lovely when it came but the service was terrible and mostly delivering the wrong thing but the lobster and chips was a winner and worth a every penny – in fact 2 lobsters on the plate! The pool which was beside the restaurant was lovely most of the time and spotlessly clean tho sadly ruined at the weekend when despite the assurance that the pool was only open to residents, they appear to open up to anyone on a Sunday as long as they eat lunch and with no limit on the time. We were joined by a a very large family with about 10 children who took over the entire pool area from lunchtime and stayed until sunset. The parents simply left the children and for 6 hours the rest of us were unable to enjoy the pool at all. Whilst I understand it is important revenue for the owners they need to limit the time so that the residents who are their primary source of income are not chased out as we were. It was our last afternoon of our holiday and very disappointing. On the positive, the hotel had arranged for a truly outstanding song and dance troupe to visit and it was without a doubt one of the highlghts of my holiday.

Reasonable rooms with lovely outside space but can be noisy and crowded

Reviewed By Tipishca

My first reaction on arriving at Villa Maroloko was of panic. We went to the restaurant/bar area on arrival and it was absolutely heaving with travellers and locals alike - noisy and full. So different to the quieter, less populated lodgings we had experienced during our travels and which we prefer. We also couldn't help noticing that it seemed to attract several 'wealthy' looking older french men with young local girls on their arms which, I'm sorry, did give it a sleazy feel. And it seems a local guide, that we had been allocated for our 2 nights stay, took umbrage when we didn't want to pre-book any activities - partly because there was nowhere to lock valuables - such as cameras, passports away in our room. As soon as you near the beach or venture onto it, locals will approach you to sell goods, massages etc. I understand why this happens but, for us, it meant staying away from the beach was the easiest option. Thankfully, when we went for our meal - which was very good - in the evening there was only one other table taken. A few more the next night. There were more people around in the day but nothing like as crowded as the busy Sunday afternoon when we first arrived. Breakfast was very basic, especially as no eggs one morning and the sullen waitress didn't help the experience. Our room was spacious and clean enough but I had to turn a blind eye to the state of the louvred window in the bathroom. Noise does travel between rooms, we had a girl with a young crying baby next door. The separated seating/patio areas outside the rooms is very nice as are the grounds away from the restaurant/bar. So, make of my review what you will. Perhaps not our cup of tea but will appeal to others.

Nice relaxing place to stay

Reviewed By Shobanaa486

We spent 3 nights at this hotel. It was the last few days of our trip so relaxing on the beach was all we wanted to do. From the moment we arrived, it rained heavy, so we spent a lot of time in the restaurant and in our room. It's a beautiful beach resort, lots of amenities and things to do, unfortunately we didn't get to make use of any of it except for all the games they have in the restaurant. The staff were incredibly sweet and amazing and very tolerant. There were a number of rude guests and they handled it so well every time. Because of the rain the power went out fairly often and there was no WIFI. Drinks were amazing, food was good, but not great. My only issue was our room was made of bamboo, in the sun, its amazing, in the rain, its really not. We had to move all of our things into the center of the room to avoid it getting rained on, and water was entering through the doors as well. So, it was very wet. No sun also means no heated water for the shower. But it was all in the experience and it was still a really great stay.

Ifaty Beach Club establishment is a 03 star hotel located 27 km north of TULEAR (commune of IFATY) passable by the national road 9 recent state state with all kinds of vehicles. The hotel is located by the sea and in the heart of the village of Mangily. Powered by solar panels, we provide hot water and electricity 24 hours a day. All our double, twin, triple and family rooms are equipped with a fan (air conditioning option for some accommodation) and a safe. Our strong point is the location of the hotel and the plurality of activities offered by the hotel (snorkling, pirogue excursion, motor boat trip, whale watching excursions from June to September, big game fishing or handline fishing, towed buoy, quad or 4 X 4). The thorny and baboab forest as well as the turtle village are located about 01 km from the hotel. All transfers are also organized from the airport with our air-conditioned vehicles.

A good place where to enjoy the seaside

Reviewed By federico b

We stayed there three nights and we felt well hosted by the friendly and helpful staff. the Blu Manoah is located directly on the sea and the landscape is beautiful. The kitchen is serving very good food both at lunch and dinner (the fish is obviously super fresh!). Breakfast as well deserves to be mentioned, served in front of the sea. The three new bungalows are cosy and well furnished, while the two older rooms would deserve a refurbishment (but are fully suitable and clean)
