Reviewed By CookidogVery happy with this hotel bang in the centre of a delightful town. Recently redecorated in muted colours (gone are the citrus hues typical of Styles) . Rooms well designed with enough wardrobe space for a few days stay. Modern bathroom with large hot shower (very hot- beware) and separate loo. Very quiet; good insulation; black out curtains and effective air conditioning. TV and phone. Excellent buffet breakfast with eggs cheese ham fresh orange juice yogurt and cereals. Restaurant complies with Covid precautions. Secure garage 9€ per day (can get full). Staff cheerful and helpful ; speak English. Highly recommended.

Reviewed By Bob PThe hotel is in a suburban setting, pleasant but nothing special. The rooms are clean and the beds, comfortable. Breakfast was good value. We used this as a stop-off on the way back to England from Provence and would do so again. We had an enjoyable meal at the St Hubert, 10 minutes walk into town, where there was great excitement and a fun run! But best of all was the welcome. The couple who run the hotel are super. She speaks good English, he, less so, but they were just very amicable. We loved, after a long drive, saying goodbye to the patron and walking out of the door to go to the nearby bar, walking into the bar and being greeted by same patron with a look of mock surprise on his face. Just an ordinary bar but again, friendly people and entertaining. Even the cyclists were friendly . As we walked into the town, a complete stranger rode by and called “Bienvenu a tous”. Very nice in a decently ordinary way and a good mid route stay.

The peace of this warm and atypical hotel knows how to seduce you from your arrival. You will appreciate the pleasures of a nice meal in one of the two restaurants: Les remparts & La Brasserie 1.2.3. Located at the entrance of the city, this ancient coaching inn is only one step from the International Poster and Graphic Design Museum, the Saint Jean Basilica, the Donjon, the Viaduct and many others sites. Only 25 kilometers away is the picturesque town of Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises which is part of the Champagne Tourist Trail. The Haute-Marne region is at the heart of Europe itself!
Good location for an overnight stopover
Reviewed By PishPashThe unprepossessing exterior and reception misrepresent the standards that this hotel have aimed for and achieved. The room was contemporary and the bathroom was ultra modern. A great heating system, robes, tea making facilities , a large comfortable bed, plus excellent food in the small downstairs restaurant made our stay extremely pleasurable. The complimentary pate and biscuits with drinks in the “homely” upstairs bar were another great touch. There are no lifts. The quirky nature of some of the interior is part of the charm. Can recommend for a stopover.

Surprisingly good

We picked this one as it has rooms that sleep 4 in sensible sized beds (15 year old is 6'1") so the sofa bed options are starting to not work for us. The hotel is not far from the main road in more of an industrial area, so views from the windows are not great, but it's an over night stay, right? We had a lovely welcome and the lady on reception spoke great English. There is a free car park at the back of hotel which is well lit and we were advised has cc tv. We paid on arrival and were asked if we wanted breakfast. Even though we were advised that it was included, it isn't but it is only 6.95Euros (give or take), so not horrendously expensive (more info below). We also booked (recommended) to eat in the restaurant attached to the hotel. We went to the room and it was great; clean, plenty big enough and an ensuite with a shower. The rooms smelled and looked like they had been recently decorated and all the bedding looked new and fresh. The room had a double bed and bunks. Plenty of towels provided and sachets of shower gel - although hand soap would have been useful too. The air conditioning in the room was welcome (also can be used for heat), there was a tv and free wifi. The attached restaurant, Just A Cote, was great. Again it all looked like it had recently been decorated and is possibly new. Other reporters mentioned a Tex-Mex, well not anymore. It is a great French restaurant which offers a 2 or 3 course set price menu. So glad we booked as it is clearly popular with local people. The food and choice of wine is excellent - all detailed in a seperate review. We had a great nights' sleep - very quiet and comfortable. Shower is good, although could use a shelf in the shower cubicle for toiletries. Breakfast again was very good and great value for money. Plenty of pastries, bread, cake, yoghurt. There was a choice of 2 cereals and coffee and juice machines. There was also scambled egg and bacon - fantastic for the cost. This hotel is lovely and I will definitely be booking/staying again.

Reviewed By motorwaymickFor central no frills accommodation this hotel ticks the box. With everything you need for a quick stopover. Breakfast is possible but wasn’t included with our tariff. Check in was open 24/7. Chaumont is a beautiful town set one the heart of champagne country.

Most disgusting place ever - what a rip off!
Reviewed By Ann LThe whole place is in cave-like gloom, probably so you don't see the dirt. It stinks of cigarette smoke, which no doubt has permeated the carpeted walls (!) in the bedrooms. Not only is it very expensive for what it is, but the food is dreadful and they ripped us off with the bill, charging for dinner twice and for two breakfasts which we did not have. Do not, under any circumstances, stay here!
