All from the beginning was great .. as we have been met with a lovely lady the door welcoming us and been there with a great chef doing a great show and our waiter did his best to make our night different and memorable. i was encouraged to visit Zen after reading a lot of positive reviews that have elevated my expectations, unfortunately i found the food to be average , like those shops in the food halls of many malls , i mean it was like fast Chinese food but with much higher cost , we have ordered soups which were the best thing in the whole course , hot and sour soup, west lake soup and chicken Indian soup was the best amongst all soups, the oysterbeef i ordered was salty to my taste i guess this was due to lower quality soy sauce used, mushroom was scarce, the singapore style noodles were somehow bland , we ordered shrimps dish but i dont recall it's name , i have tasted the shrimps in my singapore style noodles but I am sorry to say that they weren't fresh , i guess they are frozen shrimps, the spring roll appetizer dish contained two small ones , was nit satisfying at all , i have to say it is way too expensive according to quantity served , i were very disappointed and i felt like the restaurant is trying to minimize cost as there were very few guests , but that's no way to sustain a good reputation , i can sum this up in one sentence"low quality ingredients for a very expensive check by end of the meal"Dear GuestMany thanks for your review, we are disappointed that we missed the opportunity to make it up to your expectations,our restaurant managers are attentive and available at all times to assist you with your needs and to ensure all our guests are happy. This is our second visit to this restaurant and it just gets better and better. The choices on the menu are excellent, there is something for everyone, sweet n sour chicken is the best weâve ever tasted. The service from Mr Mohamed Gaber restaurant manager was excellent, he made us feel so welcome and nothing was to much trouble. As returning guests to this hotel you get invited to a complimentary meal in the White Elephant Thai restaurant,the evening we went there was no one else in the restaurant,just the four of our party so not a great atmosphere.The service we received was excellent but the food was disappointing,the only good part was the chicken and sweetcorn soup all the other dishes were quite bland and tasteless even after being warned that some of our choices were quite spicy and the prawns in one of the dishes tasted and smelled too fishy and the fried banana desert was poor.Having been to this restaurant on several previous visits to this hotel this was the most disappointing and will not bother when we go back in January.
