This is one of the 2 national parcs in the council of westerveld. Its an area of outstanding natural beauty. This parc has everything you can wish for to enjoy yourself, its great for cycling, walking, hiking, running, mountainbiking, horseriding and there are many routes. The landscape is so nice and various, from pinetrees to sanddunes and mooreland and little lakes and fields with flowers. There is bog cows walking around in certain areas as well as sheep. Definately a great area to have a holiday.

Gevangenisemuseum (The Prison Museum)

I visited this place, because of a theaterperformance of: "Het pauperparadijs", based on a book, which describes the history of this place, located in the middle of nowhere, where in former days the most poor people from the city of Amsterdam were set to work, reclaiming arable land. It is a bit a forgotten place, with a forgotten history, but to understand better, what happenend in the first half of the nineteenth century, this museum helps a lot to wake up this sad story. Recommended when you are around.

I was here with my husband who was racing with his Dutch club over a weekend at the beginning of June , not on 2 wheels, but luckily on 4!
he drives a monster of a car and didn't find the tight bends very easy to manoeuvre, better for a little Mini, MG, Porsche or a Ford escort. But having said that the facilities are second to one, toilets and showers uber clean, and great to see that there were plenty of bins around, so no crap strewn about the place. (Zandvoort can take a leaf out of this book and learn!)
There is plenty of parking and it is easy to find.. plus!! surrounded by some beautiful Drenthe countryside.
A brilliant racing weekend ! amongst friends

Hoofdrolspeler Floris Albrecht is ronduit fantastisch.

You can try different sorts of cheese - beer cheese, goat cheese, etc. Its very hard to guess which one you will like the most and they have really good price. After trying and buying some tasty cheese we enjoyed our time drinking different beers, worth place to stop by if you are in neighbourhood.

A must. If you appreciate a delicatessen in form of cheese, you'll visit and repeat. We did taste 4 different types of their accurate production and certainly enjoyed them all. They travelled to Spain well preserved and arrived in perfect conditions.
