Great hotel!

Reviewed By Beckybsketi

My daughter and I have just spent 5 nights here and it has exceeded our expectations! Honestly I’d be really nit picking if I was to find any faults! The staff, service, rooms and ambience were spot on. We ate lunch everyday at the beach which was always good and the cocktails were fabulous. Dinner at vapour was delicious and drinks in the outside bar were a lovely experience. Many thanks hotel Bellevue!

Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik

With its prestigious location, just steps from the UNESCO Old City of Dubrovnik, Hotel Excelsior is ready to show its revamped grandeur as one of the most lavish hotels on the Adriatic. Housed in a former 1913 royal villa and built to take full advantage of a west-facing view of the glorious Old Town, Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik enjoys the most enviable location of any hotel in the city – just a five-minute walk from the medieval fortress walls. It has been welcoming famous guests from the start, including Queen Elizabeth II and Elizabeth Taylor. It’s only when you go there that you fully appreciate the magnificence of the setting: the tranquil gardens in which to stroll, a beautiful beach and three restaurants, all offering cinematic views of the Adriatic. For added luxury, there is also an indoor swimming pool, plus a glamorous spa and fitness centre.

Great service and location. A lovely hotel.

Overpriced

Reviewed By 384harrietb

Spa prices have increased 20% to what it says on their website, but staff said it’s not their problem. Asked to have a shorter massage (40 mins instead of 50), in order to still have one (I had limited budget for this) and was refused even though the spa was empty. Found this experience pretty disappointing for what’s meant to be a spa hotel. There are much cheaper and longer massages etc in the Old Town so would recommend travelling out for this. Need to book OT massages a day in advance. Food and drink is expensive too - £4 for a bottle of water / £22 for buffet. Food at lunch and dinner is average. Can walk 20 mins to a strip of good restaurants including a great Mexican and Italian. Breakfast was good though, plenty of options. Lots of sunbeds too. Beds comfy; rooms clean and decent air con.

Nice and relaxing stay

Reviewed By misurac

We traveled as a couple and we spent 5 nights at Sun Gardens. We got the deluxe room with a sea view and balcony; it was a nice room, and the housekeeping service managed to keep it clean every day. Improvements suggested: ensure toiletries set is complete in the room, so shampoo, conditioner, AND shower gel - we had to buy our shower gel as it was not there 3 days out of 5; the balcony is part of the room, so you may want to clean that too. The breakfast was good; the quality of products was good and it offered a large variety of options. The breakfast staff were super attentive and ensured we had all we needed at all times. On our 4th day, I noticed that the beans were slightly drier than usual and had an acidic back taste, so I let the waiter know and they replaced them immediately. Improvement suggestions: juices were horrible, and that is misaligned with the rest of the breakfast - they were tasteless and felt way too cheap. Moreover, breakfast runs from 8 am to 11 am, and from a customer perspective, 8 am may result to be a bit too late for a breakfast, so that felt like the breakfast time was designed to suit the hotel more than the occupants. We have not tried the room service, but it is worth mentioning that there was a (roughly) 5 euros charge per order fee in place, which I found rather crazy - I am not used to and will never get used to paying a fee to make a purchase! The facilities were nice too; we visited the spa a few times, as we used it as a nice break from outdoor swimming pools and beaches. Even though we always visited the SPA in the afternoon, the SPA bar was open only once, and we would have wanted to order some drinks every time during our 3 visits; this needs to be improved too. Other minor suggested improvements are removing the mold around the jacuzzi, and replacing the broken lights in the spa, when you lay on the bed, that is the only thing you see!! We visited the private beaches and all the swimming pools, and we found them nice and clean. I wanted to take the jet ski, but we did not have enough time, unfortunately! The reception staff has been rather good too, and some of them were also able to speak multiple languages (i.e. Italian). Parking is Free for Sun Garden customers. All in all, we had a very good experience at the Sun Gardens, and I would surely recommend it.

Holiday perfection

Reviewed By doonhamergeordie

We stayed here for 4 nights after a few days in Dubrovnik. What an amazing place! The views are spectacular, the staff are so friendly and helpful. Special mention to Obred for making our holiday so special. The room was lovely with a huge balcony. The terrace was perfect for evening cocktails and watching the boats go by. Two dolphins even paid a visit to the bay. Plenty of sun loungers by the sea and such clear water for swimming. A truly memorable holiday... We're sure to be back.

Entertainment

Reviewed By Helenohare

My husband and I are just back from a week in this hotel.all inclusive. The food in the hotel is quite repetitive,I wasn't too bad as I quite like salad's and things but my husband did struggle with the food ,the drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic has alot to be desired, one type off beer which went flat as soon as your poured it .The club lookea which is the main entertainment in the hotel seems to be exclusively for French people,we did feel isolate as once they realised we didn't speak French the didn't come near us again. It is such a shame as the hotel itself is beautiful and very clean, and the town off cavtat is about 15mins walk and is a beautiful wee town with lots off eating places .

From the ground floor to the rooftop, we felt special throughout our stay, and Ina, Willi and Rodrigo were only the most prominent among an outstanding team. Lovely location with easy access to old town

Reviewed By JEP01

This is a relatively large resort hotel with a wide range of accommodation. We had a family room which meant we had a separate living area as well as a balcony. Unfortunately the balcony didn’t get much sun but was still a nice place to sit out and have lunch. The reception staff were very helpful and overal the facilities are good with a choice of three swimming pools and a private pebble beach with large swimming area. We stayed at the end of the season so the place was relatively quiet; my impression might not have been so good had the place been crowded. I think 4 stars is quite a stretch; I would grade is as a solid 3+ star resort. The scenery is beautiful and it was very easy to get into the old town. The cheapest and quickest way is by water taxi but there is also an electric cart that will take you in following the walkway. On foot I think this takes about 20-30 minutes. Continental style breakfast is served in the main restaurant with plenty of choice. Because we were there in late September, there were not the 9 advertised restaurants. However, we did try the Kobona Lanterna, described as a vintage tavern further along the promenade in Shell Bay. The food here was excellent – I had the lamb chops which were cooked to perfection. We also tried the G&T lounge and the waiter there was absolutely brilliant.
