Reviewed By nkvaI struggle to understand the 4.5 rating of this hotel on Tripadvisor. My experience has been quite different. The only pros I can find is that the room is very self sufficient. Small but has nearly everything required for a week stay. There were multiple challenges I had during my stay. I was particularly unhappy with the attitude of the staff and I rate the service as poor. The clock in the room stopped working. We asked for the battery to be replaced but it stopped again the next day. Room makeup forgot body wash. Car park was very full on Fri and Sat nights but when I asked what I can do when I found no parking spot, staff gave me a shrug and said "It's always been like that", implying I need to sort it out myself. Location was probably 3/5 but it was very noisy and there was a road work right in front of the hotel. I'm sure with that money I can find another place with better service.

Reviewed By Kim NOlder style,nice large rooms, lots of character, it was extremely clean. All the extras ( soap, shampoo) bonus was cooking element, and frying pan, plenty of utensils. Nice pool. Across the road from the hospital and shops. Easy walk into Cairns CBD. Would definitely stay here again

Reviewed By Susan SFriendly staff, room clean and comfortable. Could have done with a shower curtain to keep floor dry. Very small television which was on top of a wardrobe which made it difficult to watch. Small table and chairs which are meant for outside so were not the best to sit on for a long time. Motel had family apartments and a very nice pool area.

You Pay for What You Get..
Reviewed By Rowan MI was lucky enough to recently have a trip to Cairns to explore the Great Barrier Reef. Due to the type of year l had the budget was very tight and most of the budget was used to ensure l could travel to the reef as much as possible over my stay. So l chose to stay at this Motel not expecting a lot for my $72.00 a night stay.. The other reason l chose this Motel was its location being close to all the action with only short walk to the waterfront area of Cairns but in one of the quieter streets. The street was quiet but my room was located under one of the stairwells leading to the up stair rooms. So every time someone walked up or down the stairs its sounded like a bomb had gone off. Then the Motel has dead locks on the very cheap quality doors to each room. So every time a guest was coming or leaving there room with closing the door another bomb went off. Overall the room was clean but as expected very dated. Also as advertised the motel has limited guest parking and told if no parks were available to park in the street.. On the few times l had to park on the street it took a long time to find a suitable park..

Reviewed By Kenneth MJust out of main area but not far. Motel ok no facilities to talk of. Room basic found most pillows and bedding going yellow. Clean but off putting shower room ok. I went busy time if had more choice would of stayed elsewhere. Look ok but for one night or so

Reviewed By lynnylou0207room and bed were good but the bathroom needs updating. there is a chinese restaurant attached with nice food. the motel is not within walking distance to anything but we didnt mind as driving round the Atherton area is beautiful

Reviewed By Cameron MI have been at tolga backpackers for the last 3 months and I’ve honestly had a great experience here, between December to February I was never once without work and got my farm work completed very quickly. As long as you are a good hard worker you are going to get plenty of work. Included in your rent is all transport to and from work which is a huge bonus compared to many other working hostels, and there are 3 trips to the supermarket per week. The hostel is well managed and maintained. I’d highly recommend coming here if you are looking for farm work, just be prepared for hard work and you’ll be absolutely fine.
