Saint-Marc is a chain of coffee shops, and you can of course find their shop in Matsuyama too. The second floor of this shop is spacious and good for taking a rest. Wall sockets are also available in some seats.

Arriving in Matsuyama after a 5hr. train journey from Osaka's Kansai Airport (the last 2hr 40mins on a refreshment-less cross-country train from Okayama!) ..... the sight of "Aunt Stella's Coffee and Cookies" at Matsuyama's JR Station was like an oasis in the desert!Served in delightful surroundings by waitresses in period outfits, the Apple pie and ice cream / Coffee Set was good value and delicious too! Returned the following day to buy a box of cookies to take home as a souvenir ..... I can guarantee they didn't last very long once the vultures start to circle!

Its a rainy day when I arrived at Matsuyama, site down here for some traditional "sixteen tart" citron (look like Swiss roll but taste different) & Shikoku grapefruit juice, cost 748yen.

The coffee may be a bit pricey, but the place is well worth it. Choosing the non-smoking area, I was led to the very back of the narrow building, to a lovely tatami room with a peaceful garden view. (There is also an area with Western-style seating). Original artwork and Japanese décor accents add to the relaxing and inviting atmosphere. The breakfast set I ordered was delicious and served on very nice pottery. I wish I could've stayed longer or come back.
