Dogo Bakushukan

Reviewed By kimitakas

Bakushukan is located just beside Dogo Onsen Honkan, and it is very easy to find. It is wonderful to drink a glass of beer after taking bath. Their Dogo beers (three or four different kinds) are all original and brewed in Matuyama, of course. The pity is that food selections are not very extensive.

Bokke Craft Beer

It seems like this is a newer place. It's on the street corner, just across from JAL Hotel, where my family and I were staying. Being from the Pacific Northwest (micro-brew capital of the world), the idea of craft beer in Japan was interesting. The restaurant is a shoe-box of a place and it was always packed, which increased our curiosity. We lucked out one night and got three seats at the bar. The owners were so nice! They spoke some English. Their broken English and our paltry Japanese bridged the gap enough to understand that they had just spent a month in the US touring Seattle and Portland because of the micro-breweries. How cool! The food was delicious, the beer was fantastic. I wish I had Bokke at home!
