Amherst (/ˈæmərst/ ( listen)) is a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States, in the Connecticut River valley. As of the 2010 census, the population was 37,819, making it the highest populated municipality in Hampshire County (although the county seat is Northampton). The town is home to Amherst College, Hampshire College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, three of the Five Colleges. The name of the town is pronounced without the h ("AM-erst"), giving rise to the local saying, "only the 'h' is silent", in reference both to the pronunciation and to the town's politically active populace.

Working at UMass Amherst allows many many great restaurant options for Lunch. Our “go to” is The Pub! The service is outstanding, you can get in and out within one hour easily & lastly the food is always consistently GREAT! My favorite lunch is the grilled teriyaki steak tips with double veggies. You have the option of Two sides with this meal. Each time we go it’s as good as the last. Also...when it is nice out there is outside dining.

This restaurant is pretty dark inside and had surprisingly slow service given the fact that there were only a few other people eating at the time. The food was generally good, especially the hamburgers. The outdoor seating looked inviting, perhaps it’s a better place just to get a beer?

Recently in town for the NLF Club Lax Chmpionships and decided to eat locally after games on Saturday. Didn't have to go far from the University to find a great college hangout. Tons of beer on tap, lots of room and just loud enough to hear yourself talk :) Seriously, not a bad choice for lunch on a hot Saturday after watching lax all morning. We started with a few drafts while we waited about 30 minutes for a table of 8. We were visited quickly by our server but that's as good as it good from her. She definately was not interested in us or working that day :( The good news is that the appetizers of nachos, chili and fried pickles more than made up for her poor attitude and service. Our lunches were good as well and the pricing was what you'd expect at a pub. Food was actually better than I expected, the beer was cold and company was fantastic. I would go again.

Never had a popover prior to visiting Judy's - theirs was enormous! It was big, juicy and delicious (goodbye, diet!). The place has an ecclectic vibe (mix of styles, great restroom) and the waiting people are polite and friendly - excellent music choice (Franz Ferdinand ). Highly recommend it !
