Sassafras Tavern

Reviewed By Davezu

On a very cold day, snowing in fact we ended up at the Sassafras Tavern for lunch. We walked in a bit early but immediately the owner welcomed us very warmly. We ordered Pumpkin Soup, Arancini and Mushroom Risotto. The pumpkin soup was home made and one of those soups you will remember for a very long time, it was absolutely perfect. The arancini and risotto again all home made and absolutely delicious. I want to mention my young waiter, he was the son of the owner, approx. 18 years old and what a switched on person to have both waiting on tables and behind the bar, this kid has a very bright future and his parents should be extra proud of him. Overall we will be back, this restaurant is about an hour away but worth the travel, the home made food and impeccable service was fantastic, thank you, Dave & Eva

Cardinia Park Hotel

Welcome to the Cardinia Park Hotel, here in Beaconsfield! We’re tucked away on the Beaconsfield-Emerald Road and have been cooking up quality Australian-style fare and serving cold ones since 1870. We’ve had a fair few names over the years, but our commit

Great hidden gem off the beaten path. The staff are friendly and help and go that extra mile. Our booking went from 5 to 10 and helped us out. Even though it was busy as. The food was great but on the high side I though for the location. The ribs were 38 they were nice but I have had better. The chicken schnitzels was okay the gravy most probably the best part of the meal so I was told. The kids meals I though a bit on the high side 13. The pub itself was bright and clean. The meals size was okay. The chips and gravy was good but the gravy was very small. Not enough to go over the chips. Overall good place for a meal and catch up with family and friends. One tip don’t wear work clothes. They won’t let you it. Cheers Shane for the detailed feedback! We are glad to hear you ultimately enjoyed your experience with us. We will take your comments on board for our next. Thanks again!

My 1st visit was for the Xmas in July, very busy with great food, service and atmosphere. We were a large group and had a great time.Last night it was dinner with my husband. The place was packed, as usual, so booking is a good idea. Same friendly staff and very casual, cheerful vibe about the place. However, the meals, particularly the very good parmas, are HUGE! It is good pub food, and there is a good selection of beers on tap. A nice cosy place for dinner on a winters evening.

We frequently visit here for a drink and their awesome fries but recently ate here with friends for a Christmas catch up.Such a friendly place and staff are always helpful. The decor is quite plain but the atmosphere makes up for it. The beer garden is great on hot nights too.Frequently have live music which is great.

We arrived and waited 10 mins before being shown to a table. The place wasn’t busy. We sat down and the drink orders were taken promptly. After waiting for half an hour we asked if we could place our order. We waited a further hour expecting our meals to appear in that time. We asked the staff where our meals are. Evidently they were missed in the kitchen. Waited another half an hour. Our meals eventually arrived and they weren’t anything to write home about. Toilets were pretty disgusting too. Overall the place failed. Thank you for your feedback. If you wouldn't mind giving me a call on 5944 4599, it would be greatly appreciated. Your feedback is very important to us.

One of my most favorite spots to return too. Over the last 7 years and not one bad moment. Great food, friendly atmosphere and great music on a Saturday night. Nice place to hang out with friends, family or a nice dinner for two after a busy week and a dance. ALove the Micawber Tavern night or day, it is always special.

Recently went and checked out the new owners version of The Paradise valley hotel. The hotel has been modernised a little but it feels cold and lacking personality. I ordered the scotch fillet steak that came with chips and a small portion of gravy as well as a lettuce salad.I opted not to order the side of Green Vegetables as the steak was already holding a price tag of $40 and $8 for veg.I was very suprised to see a thin steak and chips come out and really it was only about 1.5cm thick. The dessert was too expensive , sticky date pudding with vanilla icecream, it actually was yogurt, shy with the caramel sauce. The churros too sweet..disappointing.The menu is small and doesnt make sense....It's a pub guys, not a Michelin star restaurant...no kids menu or options.I hope it improves. Confusing...
