Krefeld (German pronunciation: [ˈkʁeːfɛlt] ( listen)), also known as Crefeld until 1929, is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located northwest of Düsseldorf, its centre lying just a few kilometres to the west of the river Rhine; the borough of Uerdingen is situated directly on the Rhine. Krefeld is accessed by the autobahns A57 (Cologne–Nijmegen) and the A44 (Aachen–Düsseldorf–Dortmund–Kassel).

After a visit with a group of German friends we decided to take our English guests out for a meal. The very traditional restaurant Handwerksklause suited our taste and we were greeted in a friendly manner and quickly had a drink in our hands. The menu was adequate for our needs and soon we were eating tasty meals. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and soon a few of the customers were practising their English. The meals were all enjoyed and with a steady supply of beer and wine the evening was very enjoyable. We look forward to our next visit. The small glass of medicine at the end was much appreciated.

For the first time we visited the restaurant and we were very satisfied. The service is friendly, unobtrusive and very efficient. The meals are excellent and especially at lunchtime there is a special menu with offers, which have good value for money. In the city of Krefeld you have to search a long time to find a restaurant that is comparable in quality. This restaurant was recommended by a friend that lives in Krefeld. When we first arrived, we were somewhat put off by the semi-derelict property on the street. But we thought that we would give it a try, and I'm glad we did! The passage from the street leads through an arch to a large garden, with lots of tables and seating. As the sun went down, the lights came on and it looked truly magical. We sat inside the cafe itself. The service was relaxed, friendly and unobtrusive. There was plenty of choice on the menu for all the tastes of our party, and we were able to stay long after our meal, enjoying a drink, the atmosphere and company.Strongly recommended.

Generell begrüÃe ich, dass Krefeld mit einem rein veganen Restaurant auftrumpfen kann. Unsere Stadt ist vielfältig und es ist schön, dass man dies auch so langsam bei der Esskultur spürt.Leider ist Parkplätze (vor Allem die für umme) in KR City rar. So auch in der Nähe des Untervegs. Wer erst stressfrei mag, kommt mit dem ÃV oder dem Zweirad.In einem kleinem Innenhof mit Teich und Gänsen kommt der Laden ein wenig wie in Bullerbü daher. Richtig schön!Auf der Terrasse oder im Innenbereich, das Untervegs wurde mit viel Liebe und mit einer eigenen Note gestaltet. Die Karte klein und fein, so soll das sein!Getränkekarte gut aufgestellt. Saubere Aschenbecher wären noch schön gewesen. Wir bestellten 2x Burger, 1x Oliven mit Brot. Auf der Karte wurde schon darauf hingewiesen, dass es aufgrund der frischen Zubereitung etwas länger dauern kann. Prinzipiell gut, dass der Hinweis besteht, dieser ist allerdings wörtlich zu nehmen. Nach Rund 50 Minuten wurde serviert. Geschmack ist bekanntlich relativ, den besten Burger meines Lebens habe ich allerdings hier nicht vertilgt (und es liegt nicht am Umstand, dass ich Fleisch bevorzuge).+ groÃe Portion+ frisch und heiÃt am Tisch+ die BurgersoÃe- die Pommes waren echt lame- die Kartoffelchips aus der Tüte waren total überflüssig auf dem BurgerBesonders hervorzuheben war die super freundliche Bedienung! Der Preis für den Burger liegt bei knapp ⬠14,00, da wäre dann meine Schmerzgrenze auch erreicht. Summa summarum komme ich sicherlich eines Tages wieder und empfehle das Untervegs für Menschen, die auch einmal über den Tellerrand schauen möchten. Vegan ist nicht gleich vegan :)

Krefeld is not the sort of place you'd visit for fine dining, so what a bonus it was to find Py and his superb restaurant just around the corner of our apartment. I love chef's that are confident enough to put up a small menu, just long enough for us to dine there three days running and work our way from top to bottom. Py is Sri Lanken born but grew up in Germany and learnt his craft in a Mediterranean kitchen - the subtle spices of his homeland enrich the beautifully simple fare. Everything was great, packed with flavour, and the service was stylish and friendly. Good wine selection.
