We stayed at the Carriage House, as an alternatate to the high price of staying in Lancaster. We were attending our doughter's college lacrosse team's bid in the NCAA DIII tournament in May 2022 at Franklin Marshall in Lancaster. It was only a 20 minute drive. Anyway the stay was great, accomodations really nice, staff courteous, and we used the breakfast voucher for a great breakfast at the Speckled Hen across the street. And to top it off, we left two articles of clothing in the room and the hotel manager went out of his way to mail us the clothing. Thanks, Debbie and David

This place is great. People are friendly. Room was ready an hour before check-in. Very clean. Breakfast was decent. It was probably better than decent but I'm comparing to pre-Covid days. The view of the countryside from the room was nice to wake up to. We didn't hear any noise at all during the night.

Most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept on

Reviewed By L5969CHbryanc

The box springs on both queen beds were broken and not even in the bed frame causing the beds to fold in a U shape even when nobody was on the bed. Would have slept better in a sleeping bag on the floor. Would not recommend this hotel

Management Issues

The good. Tammy, the all in one jack of all trades, keeper of the Inn and 100% on call person made our trip. She is SUPER and as someone with 25+ years of managerial and customer experience, that's where I'd put her. The bad. Next to zero outdoor space to enjoy an adult beverage. The front porch only. Very skinny. Room for 3 and 2. Not together. The ugly. The so called manager of the property should have nothing to do with the public. Having checked into the Inn (see Tammy above) we decided to grab a table out back and have a beverage. So called manager told us (4 adults, 50-60) that we could not drink there. 'They were a Creamery, not a brewery.' OK, asked if we could sit on the front porch. 'No.' How about in the public room upstairs? 'No.' 'Not in the public room. Not in your room. No where on the property.' $50,000 fine. When I found this out, I went to speak to him. See Tammy above. Told her what was said and told her that I wanted to speak with him. She came back and said he told her he did not know we were staying there. Really? How did we know about the front porch, the common room, etc.? He wouldn't even come and speak to me. Called and left a message to speak with the owner. That's been 48+ hours and waiting.

Hey Tripadvisor - it's a Bed and Breakfast, NOT a hotel.

My 50th HS reunion was being held in Strasburg, and this B&B fit our needs perfectly. The bed was a cozy queen size, almost needed a step stool. Our room faced the street - an occasional truck or motorcycle went by, along with clip-clopping Amish buggies. Didn't wake me, but if noise bothers you, ask for a rear bedroom. Breakfast was great (Thank you, Rick!) Let them know of any dietary restrictions. Our hostess, Denise, was tremendously informative having extensive info of the town and surrounding areas. The building has a historic medallion, a lovely patio and garden, a parking area around back, and many sitting areas on the main floor (we entertained reunion guests in the piano room). A beautiful B&B - when in Strasburg, stay here!

Absolutely wonderful

Reviewed By D1467VJmariag

We had the pleasure of staying at The Barn last weekend. The weather may have been awful (rained for 3 days) but this B & B was absolutly wonderful. It was very quiet. The Master was spacious with multiple seating areas including one in front of a beautiful electric fireplace. The king size bed was super comfy and the bed linens were of excellent quality. The bathroom was very large as was the shower and jacuzzi tub. Overall the place was spotless and well maintained. Breakfast was good and we were able to help ourselves to snacks and beverages as well as store our own things in the refrigerator. The innkeeper, Gina was a great host. Would definitely stay there again.
