Reviewed By Susan EWe found les bagenelles at short notice and were not sure what to expect. We need not have worried it was great. It was also at the start of the well known Voyages des Cretes. The room was small but functional and had all that was needed. There were a number of other motorcyclists staying which was good for us, but would have been no problem for anybody else. The staff were friendly and helpful, but few spoke English. The best part of the hotel was a very welcoming and affordable restaurant where we spent an enjoyable evening. An enjoyable stay - we would be happy to return.

A very nice stay in a traditional environment
Reviewed By scout2017We stayed 3 nights in the Wistub in January - low season - and were delighted. Owner is very welcoming and dinner and breakfast is excellent. The town is ex-industrial but charming when you start to walk and explore. The church bells already highlighted in other reviews dont really matter although the ringing for mass at 0700 on Saturday and Sunday morning was a bit overdone.

A lucky strike in the dark
Reviewed By frigateWe usually reserve our stop-overs when we drive long-distance, but on this occasion we left it to chance. Little did we know that the Alsace region was hosting a European patchwork convention., Having left Tuscany in the morning, we crossed Switzerland and finally reached the Alsace in the evening. At every hotel/inn we were told the same: there were no rooms available, and we would be lucky to find a room unless we went to Strasbourg. Being September, it gets dark early, and as 10pm approached we resigned ourselves to a night in the car. Then, as we came to a hairpin descent we saw the lights of a hotel, and, oh joy, they had a room. It was a simple room with a sloping roof and a skylight, but clean, plenty of storage space. The ensuite was fine except that the holder for the showerhead had proken so you had to hold the showerhead all the time it was on. We slept very well. The breakfast buffet was generous, which, as we had arrived after the restaurant had closed, was somewhat welcome. (We had, however, been able to order coffee when we arrived, and we had rations with us). Morning showed the hotel in a beautul location on the tree-covered Col between Ribeauville and Ste Marie des Mines. Bill was extremely reasonable. Very good value for the Alsace.

It' simple but clean, cozy,the price is very good and what's more important; the owners are incredibly friendly! Martine is a fantastic host, always joyfull, and helpfull, and Patrice makes delicious food! Everything in a familiar and nice atmosphere!

Reviewed By sarahhI159NIwe stayed a night at la cle d alsace and despite a very short notice we were greatly welcome. this place has become a special place to us that we can onöy recommend you to try: : the bed room is charming comfortable and very quiet, the diner was deliciously prepared in a very professional way with great attention to the taste but also to the presentation of the plates and the breakfast was very generous with a great vatiety of quality products for sweet as well as salty teeth. in addition to enjoying the very special building and envrionement, we spent hours laughing and discussing with Franck and Lisbeth the owners of this paradise who are clearly dedicated to offering the best stay in saint Marie to any visiters. clealry the place to stay in le Val d argent!
