Second time around, still great

We stayed here in August for the second time. We first visited in 2019. The Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the centre of town. We stayed in 'La Ronde' also for the second time. This was a themed room with a balcony and a view of the Terrace and Swimming Pool. It is family owned and they and their staff are charming. They do not serve dinner but they do serve lunch. This is not to be missed. The chef is the owner and he serves very Thai inspired dishes that are fantastic. You sit in the shade beside the swimming pool. They are open to non-residents too. If you come to Lourmarin you will find several great restaurants but make sure you walk the 5 mins up the road just outside of town to eat here. Finally, i love swimming so have used many pools in my life. The filtration system they have is amazing the water always looked and felt almost 'mountain fresh' even at the end of the day.

Renovation

Reviewed By Luberonlover

Wow what happened to this place that was once full of French charm? Recently renovated and they turned it into a hotel that could be anywhere in the world. Lost all its beauty really and Frenchness. Also the No. 9 restaurant was next door was completely gutted and all the beautiful dark wood and beautiful blue suede chairs were removed and replaced by what looks like IKEA furniture. Not to mention the dirty looking burlap tarp they strung to give shade to the courtyard. Sorry but many other places that cost less and still have the French experience.

Le Mas de la Lombarde

Welcome to La Lombarde in the south of the Luberon. This estate has been held in the same family for three hundred years. The Luberon has been home to many notable French literary figures. It was called the "blue whale" by Jean Giono because of its scenic rolling hills and remarkable luminosity; it was written of with fondness by Henri Bosco; and it was often visited by Albert Camus. While a guest at La Lomarde, you can immerse yourself in local culture and history; attend an outdoor concert on the terraces of the nearby castle of Lourmarin (birthplace of composer Franz List); discover the markets of Provence in the heart of its ancient villages; or simply linger over a chilled glass of rosé wine in the shade of a local café. Situated at the southern edge of the Luberon, La Lombarde, a Provençal farm from the 17th century, now classified as a national historic landmark property, is a private oasis of a dozen hectares, of which the vegetation is essentially composed of oaks, vine cypress, wheat and scrubland. A park like surrounding of 10,000 square meters welcomes you into the shade of its truffle trees. You will find a pétanque court where you can play boules, a French version of bocce ball. As one of the original Provencal gîtes (a French rural property similar to a bed and breakfast/ small inn but no exact translation exists). our guests have showed their approval with their fidelity, attachment and satisfaction for the last twenty-three years.

Fab place to stay

We stayed here only for one night, wishing we could stay longer. The hotel is small in a quiet location, so you have your privacy and can relax. The building and outbuildings have a real character. Room and bathroom very nicely decorated, clean and made you feel very cosy. We used the pool, so refreshing on a hot day. Breakfast was excellent. We went to town for dinner, that was another nice surprise as we didn't know the area and is worth exploring. We highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent alternative and a diversion in this region.

The hotel has some medium sized rooms between 80 and 135 euros in Thai style, some with private terrace. The hotel resort is a spacious complex with lovingly maintained, wonderfully wild vegetation, a small mountain stream with waterfall and ice-cold water and a large swimming pond with a frog- and cigalleconcert at evenings. Unfortunately, the pond did not invited us to swim during our stay, because it is a standing brackish water. The circulation pump and skimmer should be reactivated. What motivates the traveler to choose a Thai resort as his home in the middle of the Luberon, the most beautiful area in France? Thai cooking seems to be an excellent alternative and a diversion in this region. The restaurant "Bamboo-Thai" of the Hostellerie Le Paradou shines with many very freshly prepared dishes from the Thai cuisine, daily extra card, local produce and a very extensive wine list with affordable, outstanding organic wines, not just from the Luberon. From the lush digustif card we tasted the very delicious Sabai Sabai (with Mekong-Whiskey). Excellent! The hosts (Eric and Meena Bouyer) from Le Paraou Resort are straightforward, very friendly and helpful people. The hotel and restaurant team impressed us with their cheerfulness, attention and helpfulness. A special thank goes to Tam and Laurent from "Bamboo Thai" Restaurant. We were 2 days in Paradou and would love to come back

Lovely Bastide

Reviewed By GuanAGL

We spent three nights in this lovely place converted from an old Bastide and outbuildings set a short walk from the centre of Lourmarin. Having mixed expectations from the previous reviews we were delighted. The buildings and garden are charming, very simple, the right side of natural. particularly delightogardens which have a formal structure but not at all coiffed. Bravo to the gardeners and garden designer. We stayed in the Grange which was converted from an outbuilding. It is in simple rustic minimal style. A little dark but lots of downstairs space. Upstairs the facilities are quite intimate so may suit a family more than friends. Well equipped kitchen with laundry. Excellent and lovely stone pool. Free bicycles. The management is light touch, helpful if asked but generally leave you to a peaceful time. We didn’t have breakfast as the shops and bakery were 5 -10 minutes walk away and we were allowed free use of the terrace tables for meals. Altogether a wonderful place in a lovely part of Provence.
