A good deal for skiing in StMoritz

Reviewed By dominiquebovey

Very good deal for skiing on the StMoritz Resort. Heated ski rooms, hard floors that resist ski boots, shuttle stop right by the building , a 5 mins ride to/from the lift. Breakfast is OK and all you can eat (no eggs though). Quiet place. Well heated, reasonably sound proofed rooms with wood planking on the walls to hide the concrete. Walking distance to a couple restaurants (do not miss the Bos-Co!). A bar at the reception. On the negative side: concrete building, do not go there if you look for something romantic. No views to speak of. And please for the breakfast, change the individual portions of butter, marmalade etc to something that makes less waste. It is possible: marmalade, honey, served in bowls, etc. We felt reeeeally bad with a table trash can full after breakfast for two. COVID is no excuse for this. And, please: Lipton yellow label is a miserable substitute for tea, and most tea drinkers do not give a damn about herbal teas at breakfast (as your personal may have noticed). A couple variants of blackand green tea could be nice. (twinings or other brand). Details, details...

Peaceful getaway in Celerina with perfect-view balcony

Reviewed By rememr

Location: Celerina is one of the municipalities in the Maloja Region, which I find most peaceful among the 3 municipalities I stayed in my 9-days trip. The hotel is about 6 minutes walk from Celerina train station or Cresta Palace bus stop, pretty easy walk even with a large luggage . Arrival: Email is sent few days before arrival regarding key deposit in the mailbox, however I arrived too early and it was not there. Luckily reception was quick to pick up my phone call and I was able to enter the hotelino and my room pretty fuss-free. There is a welcome guide book and letter on the living room table, although the letter is in German, easily translatable using Google image translate, which I've extracted the key notes below. Room: Spacious apartment with living area, fully-equipped kitchenette (with oven, fridge, Nespresso machine, electric stove, dishwasher -- perfect for multi-days stay), peaceful balcony with a fantastic view, very comfortable bed with super-plush pillows, nice shower room with walk-in closet. The radiator heater is not too warm but still sufficient. Breakfast: In-room breakfast! From the note, just need to call reception every morning whenever you are ready for breakfast. A nice lady will then push a trolley and serve the plates of food on the dining room table with mains served (bread basket, drink, hams/cheese/salami plate) and optional extras (muesli, yoghurt, chocolates, juices). Exploration Tips: Celerina - Cristolais - Samedan hiking trail, Ibex Promenade at Pontresina, and other hiking/walking trails in Celerina, Samedan, Pontresina. --- CABLE CAR TICKETS IN SUMMER Receive free with a 2 night stay for the Upper Engadin region. BREAKFAST We serve breakfast in your room daily from 7.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. Please order it by telephone (breakfast key/reception) approx. 15 minutes in advance. For special requests, please contact our staff in advance. Depending on your wishes, we reserve the right to charge something. HOME DELIVERY The Hotel Laudinella will be happy to deliver pizza, pasta, sushi or Thai food to the Hotelino. HEATING REGULATORS Located on the wall and on the heating radiator in the bathroom. SKI ROOM You will find this in the garage next to the hotel entrance door, where you can store all your skis, snowboards, shoes, sleds, prams, etc. SKI PASSES IN WINTER With 1 night's accommodation you will receive a ski pass for the Upper Engadine region at a special price of CHF 45.00 per day of skiing/person. However, the offer can only be booked for the entire stay.

Small wellness, lounge with a fireplace and the InnBAR with smoker’s corner. An hommage to the U.S. “Speak Easy” – Bars during the prohibition of the 1920 and 1930.

Perfect in so many ways!

My daughter and I had a lovely stay. The varied culinary menus (love the breakfast options), the beautiful location, easy access to all things outdoors, comfortable rooms, beds and the staff friendliness are reasons we continue to return. I would like to add that when booking, I requested a quiet room, but unfortunately was put on the main floor near high traffic and subsequently had little sleep. I mentioned this to the friendly and sympathetic receptionist at check out. She apologized and made a suggestion for our next visit. I also appreciate the 10chf token for booking direct on their website. One suggestion would be a gym with some basic machines (I know the Engadin is the best gym; however, sometimes all family members aren't the outdoors type, but still want to come along). See you soon.

Chalet Speciale

Inexpensive & Clean 4-person room with private bathroom near St. Moritz

Reviewed By TravelWithKids2011

We were meeting with family in St. Moritz & were very happy staying at this quaint B&B. Pros: Chalet Speciale is 2 blocks behind the main Celerina Train Station & Celerina is only one train stop (of 2-6 minutes depending on the speed of the train) from St. Moritz. So for us, this was a very convenient location. All the Celerina gondolas are also within 5 minute walk from it. Staff were all very freindly. They speak English & Italian well. Breakfast costs CHF 10/person & has a nice choice of breads, cold cut meats, cereals, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee, tea, etc. There are also 2 Red Setter dogs who seem to belong to the B&B. They are very friendly & enjoy being petted. Since we have a pet ourselves, we felt that this was a plus. We had a quadruple room on the top (3rd floor) with a private bathroom. It had a double bed & a bunk bed. All the beds were comfortable. We also had a small balcony that overlooked the front lawn. The shower in the bathroom is a stand up shower. Hot water took time to reach the 3rd floor, but there is hot water & we had very nice warm showers --- which felt great after a day of summer hiking. Our room was very clean. And the staff allowed us to store our things with them before our room was ready so we could go hiking without all our luggage. The chalet has a small public recreation room with toys, books, TV, table, chairs & sofa. Outside they have lots of picnic tables & a Ping-Pong Table complete with paddles & balls. The chalet was also quite safe. We forgot to lock our door when we went out for dinner. When we came back, we found our door slightly ajar, but we still had everything. Cons: Curtains are light & don't block the morning sunlight much. But there are 2 shutters which you can close to help block the light. Only the glass on the door to the balcony did not have a shutter. If I ever need to be in St. Moritz again, I would stay at Chalet Speciale again & bring something to block the light coming from the glass on the upper half of the door. This place can get noisy depending on the number of guests because the wooden floors creak from time to time. We were not bothered by noise this time, but I would bring ear plugs. Lastly, note that this chalet does NOT have an elevator. For us that was fine because we each only had one small to medium backpack. Tip: Room 11 was great with a nice view of their front lawn area. The room also had lots of electrical plugs for charging devices. Plugs were located by the door, in the bathroom & low on the wall near the bunk bed. Bring your own towels & save CHF 3/person towel charge. Chalet Speciale is a spectacular deal for families for the St. Moritz area. It is a basic B&B with a lot of charm & very friendly staff. We look forward to going there again.
