Exceptional staff and very clean rooms

I really enjoyed my stay there, absolutely fabulous staff from the receptionists, till the waiters and chamber maids, exemplary. Basic but good breakfast and excellent cappuccino in the morning ended with a great roof top bar in the evening. Beautiful views with open roof, had my beer every night there for our 8 days stay. All staff masked and disinfectant and masks are available everywhere. Highly recommended.

Hyksos is a new, elegant hotel in an up-and-coming neighborhood. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and meticulously clean. Breakfast is pretty good, too. Good restaurants etc. are within a five minute walk. Special praise deserves the staff: Polite, competent and helpful beyond what can be reasonably expected. Will happily come again.

Karlovy Vary Hotel

terrible place, decent staff, avoid if non-smoker

Reviewed By PetiteBabi

Have to stay in this place from time to time, it is awful. The rooms are non exactly new, or clean. They forget to change bedsheets, or put them on at all (and it is really disgusting to look at the naked yellow filthy pillows). The rooms have obvious airing issues, the reek of smoke is terrible, and if the room does not stink when you check in, rest assured it will start as soon as they fill up the other rooms. It never crossed their minds to have a separate floor for non-smokers. Out of five floors, it might have been arranged. Once I got a room with also no window, except for a 20 cm pigeonhole that did not open anyway (pair that with the smoke coming from the other rooms and voila). Breakfast is poor to say the least. Warm food is basically extra oily fried eggs under three shapes, toasted luncheon meet, and boiled eggs. The best coffee is the dried one, the "fresh" one is lukewarm when there is any at all. I have no options but to stay here, but every time I know I am getting closer to a lung cancer.

Poor

Stayed here for 2 nights. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, but that is the only good thing I have to say. The elevator got stuck on the way to the room due to a power cut. The room was very spacious, but housekeeping was poor. There were hairs all over the floor and the couch when I first got into the room. I asked reception to have housekeeping check when I went out in the evening. I was told they did, but the room was still not cleaned to a good standard. The glass shower screen was cloudy with soap stains, and the tiles and toilet also had stains. The walls are poorly insulated and you hear a lot of noise. Not only from adjacent rooms, but during the second night (a Monday) the whole room was vibrating until 4 AM with noise from the nightclub. Really not acceptable. Breakfast selection was very basic, and the cooked items were very greasy. There are much better options in Erbil.

Convenient, and Reasonably Appointed

Reviewed By Ross C

I stayed one night at the Logal Hotel. Originally I was going to stay two nights, but had to rearrange my dates. Having originally booked two nights, I wanted to change the date of the second night. However, I couldn't get any response to my request to change the date on booking.com, and booking.com themselves couldn't get any response when phoning the hotel. I ended up cancelling the second night on booking.com and making other arrangements. The hotel is not centrally located, but on the outer ring road in Erbil. This turned out to be convenient for me as I walked to the hotel from Sami Abdulrahman Park. It's also reasonably close to the Erbil Civilisation Museum. And, walking into the Citadel/centre is easy. As with all Kurdish region hotels I visited service was good but there was a language barrier. I didn't need much help - I paid, was taken to my room, and the next morning they helped me find a taxi to Slemani garage. During the night I heard some strange mechanical noises as if there was misbehaving machinery in the hotel. This didn't bother me too much, but someone more sensitive to sound may have been inconvenienced. Overall my experience is positive.
