Comfortable Hotel in Basra

This hotel's clean lobby with white faux-marble floor and Moroccan geometric designs is a delightful place, especially after getting there from the airport and seeing many destroyed buildings and streets covered with rubbish. The staff in the reception area speaks English, Guests can exchange money at the desk if needed. The rooms are clean with functioning AC and plumbing. ُThe dinning room is clean, there is an aviary with three chirping birds behind a large glass wall. The food, mostly beef or chicken stews is always served with lentil soup and freshly baked bread. Breakfast is the usual Arab variety with local cheeses, such as feta, butter, jam and boiled eggs and tea.. Iraq is a dry country, don't expect any alcoholic drinks in the small bar by the lobby.

Looks like it was once a nice place before it was looted. Good place to buy cigarettes at $5 for 200 sleeve. No running water or electricity but we made our own fun. Sporadically bombarded by militants using the type 25 Chinese rockets. Other than that, good , gym facilities and more steroids than you can shake a stick at. My arms looked wicked and i could bench press 140 KG when i checked out.

Basra Touristic Hotel

Overall a very pleasant business lunch

Reviewed By Thebates22

Myself and 14 colleagues had a business lunch at the Basrah Touristic Hotel earlier today. Easy to find and well located in the Al Ashar district of Eastern Basrah city, this hotel has an armed security guard at the entrance and is found next to the search area which all hotel patrons and visitors must pass through. A pleasant, good sized and clean lobby leads to several 4/5 person lifts that. The restaurant can be found on the top floor and boats fantastic views out over Eastern Basrah city, At Tannumah and further a field to Iran. The service was attentive but not as overbearing as you can find in some Middle Eastern restaurants, which was pleasing to see. The food was above average in its presentation and taste, and there was certainly enough food to go around. As you would expect only cold soft drinks and hot beverages are available to drink. hookah shisha pipes in all flavours are also available. Overall a very pleasant business lunch.

Horizon Hotel

Excellent hospitality

Reviewed By shamlanmohd

The stay was wonderful and the breakfast delightful. But what stands out is the hospitality of the staff. The food was awesome. The staff are ready to help you 24/7. I had an issue with one of my travel documents, the way the management volunteered to help me with the paper work was so good. A good hotel and great staff. Simply amazed me.

A good value clean hotel with friendly staff

Reviewed By FrenchTraveller001

This property is excellent value with clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Bathrooms are very clean though you need to wait a long time for hot water. However breakfast is basic and bad and so is the top floor restaurant which however offers nice city and river views.
