It lies east of Hemel Hempstead and west of Hatfield, about 20 miles (32 km) north-northwest of central London, 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Welwyn Garden City and 11 miles (18 km) south-southeast of Luton. St Albans was the first major town on the old Roman road of Watling Street for travellers heading north, and it became the Roman city of Verulamium. It is a historic market town and is now a dormitory town within the London commuter belt and the Greater London Built-up Area.

O we had been eating here for so many yearsit has changed hands and is now a more formal restaurant and has lost a lot of its charm - food was okservice was a bit amateurish - the waitress did seem overwhelmed by the smallest request and she had dazzling nails - ahhh

Another happy visit to Carmeloâs. We had absolutely delicious seafood risotto: excellently prepared by the always chatty and bubbly chef Vincenzo. FOOD - The restaurants focuses on authentic Italian, all made at the counter and delicious. Extensive starter and mains options EXCELLENT!DRINKS â Alcoholic, or soft drinks, or teas / coffees ATMOSPHERE â Small and cosy. It was middle of a busy lunchtime service, but still a great friendly atmosphere. SERVICE â Quick, efficient and friendly â EXCELLENT.PRICE RANGE - £excellent value, the lunchtime meal deal is £6.95! OVERALL â What a find, very highly recommended (I'd give 6 stars if I could) They are expanding, adding another venue soon.

I couldn't fault this restaurant abc, having visited four times, that is saying a lot. Excellent freshly cooked food. Fabulous drinks selection, great home-made deserts, fair and reasonable prices. Highly recommended and I am VERY fussy.

La Cosa Nostra in St Albans is a short walk from the main train station or the town centre. Parking nearby is an issue.Very basic tables inside but small and cosy with a nice atmosphere.Friendly service and the fresh cooked food- you can see the chef at work, was very tasty.A pleasant first time and good prices for the area. would def return.

We had a lovely evening there. There was a wide variety of authentic Italian dishes, very reasonably priced. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service and atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend it and will come again.
