St Albans /sənt ˈɔːlbənz/, /seɪn ... / is a city in Hertfordshire, England, and the major urban area in the City and District of St Albans. It lies east of Hemel Hempstead and west of Hatfield, about 20 miles (32 km) north-northwest of central London, 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Welwyn Garden City and 11 miles (18 km) south-southeast of Luton. St Albans was the first major town on the old Roman road of Watling Street for travellers heading north, and it became the Roman city of Verulamium. It is a historic market town and is now a dormitory town within the London commuter belt and the Greater London Built-up Area.

Last time we went to the Hare and Hounds I was quite disappointed by what I experienced as a dull, listless, pre-sliced and not very good meal. But what a change...this time the Roasts were delicious, opulent, generous, clearly hand sliced and served with pride. A really excellent meal which we'll be delighted to repeat! Truly excellent British pub Sunday food!!!

Had a very enjoyable lunch with partner, our first meal out alone after having a baby. Maybe over done it a bit. Mixed seafood starter, butchers block main course and lots of cocktails. Highly recommend.

Having walked past this place a couple of times, we finally got around to going in for a light lunch. The tapas style small plates/appetizers were perfect to share. Well presented with good flavours. Very comfortable lounge style interior is probably more suited to evening dining. We will definitely be back to find out. Although we didn't try them, the lunch curry specials look like good value. We visited on a Thursday evening and had the restaurant to ourselves - amazing considering how busy it is at weekends and how wonderful the food was. There is a good choice of dishes, meat, fish and vegetarian, and everything is home made and fresh.We had the mini meze and torpedo prawns to start, followed by stifado and lemon and garlic chicken. Everything was really tasty and authentically Greek. The coffee was lovely and so was the baklava. We shall definitely return!
