Tu Y Yo

A cozy, intimate place that felt like you stepped back in time. The counter flanked by old black & white photos reminiscent of Old Mexico. This isn't where you'll find combination plates or the more commonplace Mexican fare. It's far more interesting than that. Think stuffed plantains, hors d'oeuvres stuffed with grasshoppers, rich mole & specialty dishes served beautifully. The guacamole was exceptional as well. There was 6 of us & we were seated immediately at 730 pm, but the place was full before we left. Between all of us we enjoyed tilapia tacos, chile rellenos, carnitas & simmered angus beef in a rich poblano red sauce. It was all delicious with good portions. We topped off our meal with churros with a decandent caramel sauce for dipping. They serve beer & wine libations. With those added our bill was about $40 per person however we ordered 4 appetizer plates, full meals, adult beverages & two dessert plates to share. I wish I'd captured pictures but I've gotten to where I leave my phone at home when gathering with friends & family! Enjoy!

We stopped by here occasionally when in Harvard Square. It’s a nice chill dine in or take out Mexican restaurant with limited basic choices. Ordered the two (decent)soft tacos for $4.50 and like every time in the past when you get to the register the cost is much higher.. so basically if you get anything on it that it doesn’t come with you pay extra ... i.e. guacamole $1extra really!

While visiting the Cambridge area we wanted some good Mexican Food and we found it at the Border Cafe. This a great place with lots of atmosphere, loud music and great food. All the food we ordered was great along with some good Margaritas. If you are in the area of Harvard stop in for some Mexican, you won’t go wrong. Just make sure you are not in a hurry because you are going to wait for a table.

This is an attractive restaurant with a professional and charming waitstaff. There is a good selection of craft and imported beers. Those are the highlights. The food unfortunately massively disappoints. From the overly sweet and insipid pico de gallo served with chips, to fish tacos that not only lack any flavor but seem like deep-fried fish sticks to tough, flavorless meat, our meal was lackluster. What tipped it to truly awful were the margaritas, which are weak, liquid candy and an appetizer that was some sort of pancake and a soggy mess, that would be better (though still terrible) at IHOP. It’s hard to see how this place thrives: there are far better Mexican restaurants in Cambridge/Somerville and this is a local population who appreciates well prepared, authentic foods.

This is my go-to place for a quick, tasty, economical and pretty healthy lunch in Arlington Center. I always order the enchiladas with green sauce. If you want to cut calories, you can order them without cheese and sour cream. The enchiladas are always tasty, as is the Mexican rice that comes with them. In the past, I think they over-salted this dish, but now they’re fine. The place is small and informal. There is limited seating, so get there before the local high school kids get out of school!

We had our daughters birthday dinner here. We were seated promptly on arrival. The menu is just double sided but you have quite a selection to chose from. We ordered the trio of tacos, chicken fajitas, carne adobada, and pollo con salsa tomatillo for dinner. All the meals come with 2 sides of either rice, beans (black or pinto) and a cob of corn. All the meals were piping hot and tasted deliciously good. For dessert we had a tamale dessert chocolate and a mousse dessert chocolate which were equally tasty and chocolatey. Cocktail was a Cancun Martini which was made to perfection. So overall we had a very good experience and would most definitely return. Our waiter was Juan Carlos who was very polite and efficient.
