They have a very extensive wine selection and the wine service is quite good (appropriate glasses depending on wine, use of decanter without having to request for one, serving order etc).The ambience is nice and has a nice partial view of the lake.As for the food, if eating there I would recommend sticking to the platters. The smoked ham, cheese and dark bread was delicious! We also had the kasnudeln (not really inspired in taste, only presentation) and the burger (not really a burger but rather pulled pork meat in a bun) before which was not as satisfying.I do recommend for wine and platters or for a pre/post dinner wine.

Restaurant Lagana is hotel restaurant of the Holiday Inn Villach. But, when you enter the restaurant you do not have the impression you are in hotel. It is one of the best restaurants in Villach. The menu is not very large, but all meals are very tasty and good. The choice of wines is also very good. The service is excellent. The only weak point are the prices. Hungry, Sunday and evening seemed to be in this region in winter a unhappy combination. By chance we found the Stubn (cosy room) and have been quite surprised. Quite some international oriented local dishes on offer we could not resist to go with the Heringschmaus (local gold fish dish during carnival time) and the tagliatelle with salmon. We had lambs-leaf salad with potato chips (quite unusual but good) and for the kids we ordered noodles with tomato sauce. Unfortunately it did not come just plain as to be expected for little kids but with onions, veggies and quite spicy. As the kids refused to eat this dish the found they delight with the salmon-dill noodles.Pudding was kindly offered but nothing what we really liked. So we asked for a Sabayon and they really made one. It would not win the michelin star awards but was still very agreeable and we enjoyed it a lot. Their Glühwein is quite good as well.The only downside was they the charged the sent-back kids dishes in full. But as the service was excellent, unlike most of restaurants in this area they even offered a kids play corner, the food a delight and they really tried hard we thought why fight for a tenner? I can fully recommend this place for a good and honest meal and would go there back at any time.

The reviews are so right, great place, great ambiance and great food. And staff that makes you feel very welcome and appreciated!A reason for a d-tour when you are around the Woertersee. We had nice starters (raw biff tartar, escargots Viennese), mains where veal (rolled and blend with Parmesan and rucola) and the catch of the day (steamed freshwater fish with vegetables). Not often we take desserts but here we tried the Chocolate cake fondant and an impression of Apfelstrudel.Nice white Austrian wine to complete this lovely meal, and of course a grappa to finish. (Grappa Nonino, not the best but maybe we are to spoiled by Berta Grappa)

This is restaurant with relaxing and lovely atmosphere. Food was very good, steak perfectly done and fish & shrimp stew was great.Very good dessert, good choice of wine, service professional, good value for money. Recommended!

We ate here largely by accident, but am so glad we did. It turned out to be one of the best meals of our whole Austrian holiday. The simple "ofenloch" potato dish comprised two enormous, crispy jacket potatoes, with a delicious sour cream, yogurt, herb and bacon topping which, for the price, was simply incredible value. The "Steirische" potato was a single jacket potato, served as above, but with a huge portion of steaming hot vegetables AND two very generous pork medallions which were seasoned and cooked to perfection. This restaurant simply serves delicious food at a very very fair price. The dining area had a great ambience and the owner came out from behind the grill to talk to us about our travels, our plans and to ensure we had everything we needed. It made the whole experience very enjoyable and upheld the traditions of Austrian hospitality. Highly recommended, and if we were staying longer, we would definitely make a return visit. No question! Go. You won't regret it.
