Vid Hafid Guesthouse

A beautiful guesthouse by the see in Olafsvik, Snæfellsnes. Great location, close to swimming pool and shops.

Communication with them was HORRIBLE! Worst experience in over 4 years....

When we travel, we have access to wifi but not to a phone. If it is your case, NEVER EVER book here. We received a message a few hours before check in to let us know there would not be anyone at the reception when we would arrive, and that we needed to call them. They could have, like every other place we've been to, given us the lock key code via the messaging then, but no, we had to call them. We answered that we could not since we had no access to a phone (well not one with a sims card at least)... We told them we had arrived, we were waiting and would be waiting for their answer on the messaging chat. They answered at one point (or maybe it was an automatic response) to say they would help us with parking when we got there. But we were already there! We told them again... We waited in the car for over 1 hour, no answer from them. It was windy and snowy and really cold (around -1 degrees) outside, and I needed to go to the bathroom... The only reason we got inside eventually was because another tourist who had booked there arrived and let us in... That is it. It has now been 24 hours and they still never answered my many messages... I would have slept in my car if it was only left to them. I can add, on top of that, that we were supposed to come there in 2020, it was cancelled because of covid of course and they never were accomodating, they never wanted to reimburse, they barely wanted to give us vouchers (with expiry dates), and the new dates would not have breakfast like it was suppose to at first (and that we paid for...). All in all, I would not recommend. Finally, once we were inside: the bed were bouncy castles (so springy we bounced when we moved on the one person bed... not comfortable), we could hear everything in the streets (cars passing by, etc.), the curtains would not cut the light entirely and would unroll up randomly, the bathroom were <high school change room> showers, two showers in a room with only a curtain, no place to change in private (on dry floor), the bathrooms were the same, 2 bathroom stalls for men, two for woman (that is it, 2 showers and toilets per gender for the whole establishment)... The kitchen also lacked a lot of things and we had to get creative with it... There was someone at the reception the next morning and she tried to suggest activities for us to do, but I had already all planned my day and by then, I just wanted to leave... Anyway, I would never go back there and I will actively tell people I know not to book there if they go in the snaefellsness peninsula. There are way better places (in Arnastapi for example, we stayed there too!)

We had to cancel our reservation due to Covid-19. They promised a refund but broke that promise, don’t answer Emails and hang up the phone when we call them. Worst experience ever with anyone offering “service”. Staff inpatient, cold and extremely rude!

Kid friendly family home

Reviewed By Sasha D

Glad we stayed at this place, the hosts were very friendly and welcomed us when we arrived at night. Oli even showed us how to work the tv so our son could watch cartoons. Thumbs up from the little one. Room was in what appeared to be a home with a kitchen and shared bathroom. Nov was a quiet month so wherever we stayed, there were not many people, this place included. It was only us and a couple who occupied the home of at least 5 rooms. Kitchen had all the utensils, stove, fridge - everything needed to make our own meals. Coffee station provided free coffee, sugar, yes, thanks! Bedroom was clean and the hosts even included a crib for our little one to sleep. Living room was spacious, cozy and Oli even gave our son the box of toys to play with. All good things to say about this family friendly place, clean and comfortable. Great hosts, lots of toys and full kitchen. Highly recommend.

Noisy party, dangerous bathroom, owner not contactable- so avoid at all cost!

Reviewed By Peggy j

Noisy party until I stopped them at 23.00 hours. No telephone contact at front door where we were meant to be able to ring owner who was unavailable on all 3 occasions I tried to ring. I see others had same problem. Bathroom unsafe and many problems with it- dangerous sockets; no towel rail; only 1 roll toilet paper; no bath mat and high shower onto slippery floor; no plug for basin and toilet didn't flush properly. Location good. Room size good.

Sehr gute Übernachtungsmöglichkeit in der Nähe des Hafens von Olafsvik

Reviewed By tantearzt
