Decided to stay at Cronulla as it is an easy drive from Sydney Airport before we head off to South Coast of Sydney. Studio Apartment was of good size for two pax with a balcony. Room was clean and check in was fast and staff were friendly. Hotel is just opposite Cronulla Beach (which we could not go due to rainy weather) and within walking distance to Cronulla Street where shops/eateries are located.

Jazz and Blues Festival Weekend

I always enjoy staying at Rydges Cronulla Beachside, even though it is really out of my budget range. I had a studio room, would have loved to have a beach view room, but was way beyond what I could afford this time.... Rooms are always clean and comfortable, staff are great and enjoyed some time in the restaurant area for the music with a delicious meal and yummy cocktails. Had a good breakfast too. Such a handy location.

Cockroach heaven

I booked the wrong date through Booking.com, which 2 mins after I realised I rang them , they allowed me to change dates, but come on guys, I couldn’t even have a shower as it was filled with cockroaches on steroids! Absolutely disgusting! I closed the bathroom door and laid the towel along the bottom of door to try and keep them in there. Hence, no sleep worrying they would escape and crawl over me in bed. Went to Reception at 8.30am to advise, sign says open at 8.00am, still locked up. Saw housekeeping doing a room so told them, and showed them my photos. No call from Motel apologising. As we are Motel managers , we know you should supply CLEAN rooms, good beds and definitely a great shower. The grounds need a good clean up too, used to look decent years ago, looks so run down now.

Loved my short stay at Guesthouse. There's free street parking in the nearby HowieAve. There's shared bathrooms but they're always clean and private. Walking distance to shops and Cronulla beach. Wifi is amazing signal. The walls are thin but it's an old building. I'm vegetarian and Ronny was super lovely to help me and organised a veggie dinner every night I was there. The cook is also a lovely lady! :) Would stay again.

Cronulla Beach Backpackers

Stay anywhere else but here

Reviewed By Melanie C

We booked this hostel last minute as we needed a place to stay and wanted a bed after camping for nearly two weeks. I wish we checked TripAdvisor in advance and/or stayed at a campground or slept on the beach. We booked a private double room ($76 AUD) and when we opened the door were hit in the face by a vile odour that smelled like a teenage boy's gym bag - a mixture of B.O and cheap deodorant. Like others have mentioned, I expect very basic facilities when staying at a backpackers but at least they should be hygienic and clean. To help others from making the same mistake I have listed the good/bad below: The Good: - Check in was easy (we rang the phone number and the manager texted us the access code) - Short walk to the beach and restaurants - We had clean sheets and didn't catch bedbugs (unlike previous visitors) - The bed was reasonably comfortable The Bad: - Dilapidated interior that is falling apart - Filthy bathrooms with mould and scum stains in the shower and dirty toilets - Curtains in the bedroom falling apart and not covering full width of the window so we were woken up at 5am by the bright rising Sun - Room didn't look like it had been cleaned with beer bottle caps on the floor - Odour in the room that smelled like a teenage boys gym bag - No flyscreen on the window so when we had to open it to cope with aforementioned odour insects were able to get in - Filthy kitchen that was so dirty I would not want to cook any food - Filthy looking fridges that I would not trust to keep my food safe Do yourself a favour a stay somewhere else.
