We eat here regularly and always enjoy the ambience of the main dining room or the sun-room. Nice, friendly staff and generous food portions, too! In fact, many of the courses could be shared. However, the Faroe Islands salmon served "niçoise style" during our most recent meal here was a disappointment. I would have liked to have seen it served with the traditional accompaniments of hard-boiled egg, green beans, fresh tomatoes, niçoise olives, and anchovy fillets, dressed with an olive oil dressing. This version had only one thinly sliced niçoise olive (and not whole olives), three or four green beans, one small quartered potato, and no hard-boiled egg or obvious anchovy fillets anywhere. While the salmon itself was served on a bed of mixed greens, these were made soggy by their swimming in a large quantity of a heavy, tomato-based stew, which overwhelmed the entire dish. Too bad, as the salmon was grilled very well! Before keeping this item on the menu, the chef might like to take a look at the classic recipe on the Epicurious or Bon Appetit websites--so much more appetizing on a hot summer's day.On the plus side, I must compliment the chef on his regular Sunday night special of standing rib roast, served simply with a baked potato (with all the trimmings) and asparagus for $29.00--this price even includes profiteroles, served with dark chocolate, vanilla ice-cream and whipped cream, for dessert. A bargain!

I would classify this restaurant as bar food for the most part as well a very good bar. While Iâve been to most of the other Salt Hill Pubs owned by the Toohy(sic?) this was my first visit to this particular restaurant. We were greeted and seated promptly by the waitstaff, drinks and menus arrived quickly. Plenty of time allowed to order food.We ordered Guinness Stew, giant pretzel, cheese burgers, and chicken strips. Everyone liked their choice! The food arrived in less than 10 minutes...hot and tasty. The service was very good, the ale house atmosphere acceptable and the beer and soda, good as well. Generous portions as well.
