It lies just off Hawaii Belt Road on the opposite side of the island from Hilo, the county seat of Hawaii County. Its elevation is 52 feet (16 m). Because the community has borne multiple names, the Board on Geographic Names officially designated it "Honaunau" in 1914 and 1954 before changing to the current spelling in 2000. A restaurant with noodle house in its name in Hawaii should do good saimin - right? Well, TK's doesn't! The broth is thin and flavorless. The meat - chicken and pork - was apparently dumped in water and boiled; it comes in flavorless lumps too big to eat in one mouthful. The greens are cut so big that it's impossible to eat them without making a mess.My husband wisely chose the poke bowl, which he liked.The service was slow. We had to ask for water twice.The ladies room wasn't terribly clean.Give this place a miss!

Beijing Garden is under new management, and sadly the food isn't as good as it used to be. The variety and quality of ingredients has gone down, and the food is now very oily. Service is also less friendly than it used to be. I miss the previous owners and hope that the new management dedicates itself to providing higher-quality food than it does right now. It's gone from very good to disappointing.

This is a classic Big Island local eatery thatâs worth checking out whenever youâre heading south of Kona :)). Itâs been in operation since the 1920s and features excellent Japanese cuisine, including super Ono misoyaki style blackcod (mmmm!). My oyako donburi was really tasty too... The service was exceptionally courteous, quick, and efficient... prices were reasonable as well :). BTW, theyâre open early for breakfast too... If youâre seeking a good Japanese restaurant, give Teshimaâs a try... enjoy!

Itâs our old reliable for Wor Ton Min...a favorite soup big enough for two. Full of goodies ; chicken, pork, shrimp, won tons, noodles , mushrooms and greens. We had one between us for a lunch, plus an egg foo young, because we missed breakfast.Unpretentious, friendly staff , hot counter with reasonable plate lunch items. I. This shopping plaza you will find another fave of ours, Choicemart...excellent grocery, local items - just big enough and very pleasant staff as well.

Although this great new restaurant is in Captain Cook the Strip Mall is actually called the Kealakekua Ranch Center. It is located below the grocery store Choice Mart .

I can't believe I haven't left a review for Junjiras yet. We eat here quite often, and we enjoy everything about it.The owners are really nice, and everyone is always super friendly when you go in.It is a small walk in place you go to order and take the food out. You can take it outside, where there are chairs to eat- or you can take it home.We love close, so always take it home.The food is always made to order, so please don't go as expect to be in and out in 5 minutes. An order of 2 dishes will take about 10-15 min.I like to call in my order and pick it up.Everything we have eaten here has been good, there's nothing I can say to stay away from.It seems Thai is the new sushi in Kona, as there are no less than a dozen Thai restaurants here. Some are good, some not as much. Junjira is up there, and even better because it's only a 3 minute drive from home. We are lucky to have such a good place up mauka, and not be forced to drive all the way to town for good Thai food.

What a cracker of an eatery. Everything we had was delicious, especially the seafood pasta which is easy to mangle in lesser hands,. The owners young children took delight in serving the tables and good on them for learning responsibilities in this regard. This place as far as we can tell is the absolute stand out in the area around Captain Cook. We heartily agree with everyone who has rated this highly. It is wise to book as it is very popular, but we walked up and got an inside table on a week night in summer. Plenty of car parking off street.
