Iâm a Brit abroad on business. Iâve spent a week in Gaithersburg and had a meal out each night and they were all good. I went to the Green Elephant and I thought the food was exceptional, best Iâve had in the US so far. Ambience was great too. Why the 4 ratings then? Well the food deserves some equally great wines and they struggled with their white wines, they really did their best and were super helpful but Iâve never tasted such a sweet Pinot Grigio, in fact I didnât know they existed, or what was sold as a dry Riesling. Maybe Itâs local tastes, I had a Riesling in Surf too and that wasnât dry and thatâs a missed opportunity in a fish restaurant. Still all round a fabulous restaurant and shouldnât be missed if you are in Portsmouth NH. Thank you so much for visiting! Our wines rotate so maybe weâll have something more to your liking on your next visit. Thank you for your positive review and feedback.Cheers!Pete Whitehead

We had heard good things about 5 Thai and finally went with friends. The place was really busy as we expected. We tried and shared a number of things on the menu and all were fine, but nothing was at all memorable. I rated it average because we couldnât remember what we ate afterward except for some potstickers. Nothing seemed unusually good. The restaurantâs ambiance also was average in our estimation. We wouldnât go out of oirvwa6 yo return.

Not a soul in restaurant on Friday night yet dinner took two hours. Five takeout orders clearly concern was in takeaway. Finally appetizer of one wonton soup appears one hour after ordering. One chicken dish overly flavored one rice dish ordered medium one came out without seasoning and finally a spiced shrimp and eggplant dish served with no spice after two hours. We asked for it to be spiced to medium and was sent back a dish that upon taking One Bite my spice heat loving chef bf said he couldnât even eat and later went to hospital. Jasmine the chef we will be reporting you to board of Heath you should not be allowed to cook

Took a break from shopping to have lunch. Tried the Shrimp Sumai w/ ginger sauce and the Khao Soi, chicken and noodles in a yellow curry sauce. Both were very good. For some reason, they don't serve lunch portions on Sundays, so there was some 'sticker shock' when I got the bill. It's a small thing, but they should let people know that luncheon portions aren't available on Sundays or maybe even all weekend. No Mai Tais or cocktails available, just beer and wine.

Family owned authentic Thai restaurant bringing the flavors of Chiang Mai and Bangkok to Portsmouth, NH.
Went to lunch on a Tuesday. First time here. Menu seemed okay. Started with fried dumplings, which were good. Then my meal came out (vegetables with tofu). My husband's meal came out 20 minutes later. It was one of the lunch plates so not sure why. Both were just okay. Not much flavor of spice. We both experienced diarrhea later in the say (sorry!). Since it was our first meal of the day, could only be from this food. Won't go back.Sorry you had such a bad experience with the old staff. The original owners of the restaurant, who sold and went back to Thailand 12 years ago, are back! Our new menu is fresh and authentic, and we pride ourselves on excellent service! Please come give us another try!
