Took my Mom for her 78th birthday and she had the sirloin which was cooked to her liking. My husband also had the sirloin and said it was very good as well. I decided to try the steak kabobs with veggies. Very disappointed since most of the meat was 'fatty' or had lots of very, very chewy parts that made it most unenjoyable. I only had about two bites that were actually good. That will be the last time I order the kabobs.

This place is amazing and has amazing people working here. The food is outstanding and the service even more so. We saw the staff find a pillow for an elderly woman so she could sit higher at the table and they did it with such dignity for her.The piano player and bass player were great to listen to. For food I had the shrimp de jonge, Yum!This was the only glitch: my husband wanted Prime Rib but they were already sold out on Sat.eve. but management apologized and offered the next best steak and comped the cost difference. Wow! This place is beautiful and clean. [The only little wear and tear was on the fabric on the semi circle seats.]Cost for dinner and drinks came to 68.00. [excl.tip]

I love this place! Every chance I get I stop over and get a Cheese steak. They are good especially with the vegetables as they help make the sandwich. Then i always order the fries as I love to put vinegar on them. They taste so good that was. The staff is friendly and they do a good job.

LongHorn Steakhouse

Longhorn is one of the Darden group of restaurants. I belong to their frequent eaters club. Mostly, I go to Red Lobster, where the meals are consistently better than this night's fare at Longhorn. Darden e-mailed me a $5 off coupon for their small filet mignon. This brought the total to $20 including the tip. If I had paid $25, I would have felt like it was "armed robbery without a gun".This restaurant is typical in that the food is reliably very good, the restaurant is clean, and the servers actually listen to you. Tonight, the meal consisted of some warm multi-grain bread freshly baked with real butter, a salad, a baked potato, and the 6 oz filet mignon, which I had butter-flied at the suggestion of the server. That suggestion isn't a good sign, because it implies that the meat is going to be tough, and the best way to eat it is cut in half the long way. It was a good suggestion.Rating the items:A = the fresh, warm, multigrain bread with butter. Not as good as cheddar bay biscuits, but still very goodC = the salad, with new 1000 Island dressing. Borrow the salad Red Lobster has. A = the loaded large baked potatoC = the butterflied filet mignon was tough and excessively crustyI liked the bread, but they need a better knife to cut it. I had to saw on the crust to cut it, and that ended up collapsing the pieces. It resembles Italian bread, like you get at Lino's, but it's dark and multi-grain inside. The real butter is a nice touch. The salad was a disappointment. It was so dark in the restaurant that you couldn't get a visual clue as to what the finely chopped non-lettuce ingredients in the salad were. I believe they were chopped up cucumber and tomato, although the tomato looked orange instead of red. Ask Red Lobster if you can borrow their salad recipe. But what you're really there for is the steak, and filet mignon is among the most expensive and most tender. Tender...this was not...and not by a long shot, even when butterflied.A good filet you should be able to cut with a fork, not a steak knife. I had to saw on some pieces, that's had tough it was. For example,I have a favorite place to go for ribs...it's the Maplewood Steak House in Ironwood, Michigan. You don't need napkins; you don't need a knife; their ribs cut with a fork. They're the best ribs I've ever tasted. I've been to Denver, Kansas City, St Louis, and Denver. None of their places are that good. Many of them leave you looking like you slobbered your way through dinner. I've eaten at better Longhorns than this.

Outback Steakhouse

This is our third visit to this Outback, and the food we tried this time was really great. Our waitress was attentive and kept everything running very smoothly with a smile. Very professional. The appetizers we had were excellent, especially the cheese & steak melted dip (sorry, not sure what it's called. The Ahi tuna appetizer and the steak quesadillas were excellent. We also got the "bloom petals" which is a small version of the bloomin onion and plenty large. For the first time, I had the new 6 oz Roasted Garlic Shrimp-topped Filet - medium rare. It was great! My husband's salmon was a bit overcooked and dry. They have a great variety of sides, including asparagus (for an upcharge,) which was nice.Overall, it was a great lunch, including a glass of wine and a few mugs of Fosters.Special note: They give a military discount of 10% off for all veterans, and we got two small birthday sundaes free (with 6 spoons to share.)
