This was the other great restaurant we experienced in Iceland, a country not renowned for its food options. The interior is charming and cozy. I ordered the "Smaelki with Chicken" which was an unusual choice for me as I almost never order chicken at restaurants, but the ingredients used were too enticing to ignore (local potatoes and chicken dish with pine nuts, feta cheese, roasted tomatoes and chili mayo). It was delicious, and brought to mind Canadian poutine except fine-dining style. Not cheap by any stretch, but totally worth it!The town it's located in is gorgeous, and worth going well out of one's way to visit. For a future trip to Iceland we plan to stay here rather than just a quick stop.

Sunna Restaurant at Siglo Hotel

We enjoyed a lovely breakfast at the Sunna. Unfortunately, we were travelling from one place to the next and never had time to enjoy dinner. The breakfast was elegant and really well maintained by the staff.Only suggestions to the hotel staff - change the music selection! Ave Marie and On Eagles Wings are a bit depressing for meal period. Too formal and too reminiscent of funeral mass. Safe Travels, Colin

Harbour House

About 75 minutes drive North of Akureyri is Siglufjordur, a small attractive town set in a dramatic landscape of snowy mountains and water. And down by the wharf is a cafe with a faded sign out the front. If you are in town for the evening, make a point of finding it, because it serves food of exceptional quality. In our walking around the town, we hadn't seen this restaurant. Only when an enquiry was made during the day about where we might have our evening meal, were we alerted to this small eatery. It's wonderful. We were greeted warmly, and directed to a table overlooking the harbour. The menu is quite small - always a good sign, in my view - and is very much oriented to local fish. We chose to have the Seafood Soup. It comprised salmon, Arctic char and cod, together with a superb tomato-based broth. Although soup is generally seen as a precursor to other dishes in many Western societies, in Iceland, as in Vietnam, it can be a meal in itself. That was very much the case here, because there was as much fish served as in any main course, and it was truly delicious: absolutely fresh, veriy tender and succulent, and beautifully offset by the broth. The accompaniment was brown bread of exceptional quality and taste.Although dessert is offered, we felt well satisfied with our soup offering.Staff are courteous and well informed about the food on offer. This is a restaurant worth searching out. Indeed, it is another good reason to visit this town and it's fabulous setting.

Kaffi Raudka

Kaffi Raudka is located in a brigt red house by the marina in Siglufjordur. It is an excellent place to meet the locals and breathe in the atmosphere of this nice little fishermen's town. Kaffi Raudka opened in 2011 and is now open all year around. Warm h

...the food has much room for improvement. Unfortunately. The location is very nice, just next to the harbour and the restaurant itself is also very nice. However, the food keeps far behind this. We had a seafood soup, which was soup but nearly without seafood. And even if you take into account Icelandic price level, 2500 ISK for this was clearly too high. We had much better food for much lower prices before and after.

Accommodating about 5 tables inside, this quaint and cozily furnished restaurant is festooned with sailing memorabilia and provides beautiful Icelandic seafood. The salad is the chef’s surprise, and the maître d’ won’t speculate about its content. Delicious prawn cocktails, baked cod and arctic char, with many tasty sounding options. A perfect venue in a remote fishing village, and a delightful experience that was reasonably priced (for Iceland).
