The Sava and Sora rivers join in Medvode, from which the town's name (which means 'between the waters') is derived. Two large factories, Color and Donit, are based in Medvode. The Sava River at Medvode is also the location of the Medvode Hydroelectric Power Plant. After the Second World War, a Yugoslav labor camp for political prisoners operated in Medvode.

A must in Ljubljana. Enjoyed a fantastic breakfast, but you must confirm they are still serving breakfast these days. Dear HempColonel,thanks for finishing your review, we are honoured that you have kept our Monstera bistro in such great memory!As for serving breakfast, we stopped 3 years ago. Namely our lunch service expanded and we start serving at 11.30 already.So, for breakfast in Ljubljana, there are several tasty options elsewhere, for lunch you are welcome from 11.30 until 16.00 (last possible arrival) from Monday to Saturday. It a tourist-culinary-educational facility, where students and students of catering and tourism courses will test their skills in practice and on purely authentic guests.The restaurant with an open kitchen is elegant with mosquito nets, stays, gloves, lights and students, which are constantly stacked, aligned, arranged and serve.At each walk, the waitress presented a dish that was part of the tasting menu.The dishes were greatly served and exceptional taste. We definitely come back. :-)

We came to this restaurant situated in the castle for dinner. For starters, there are a beautiful views of Ljubljana below. We opted for the five course tasting menu (â¬56) and were blown away by the food. Courses were small, creative, absolutely delicious and attractively presented. We also had the optional wine pairing which included five exceptional Slovenian wines. We highly recommend this restaurant! Best food we had in 14 days in Slovenia and Croatia.

The three of us enjoyed sharing a range of dishes from the dinner menu. All were very good, but I thought the prawn, parmesan and pasta the best I have eaten, while my partner raved about the cherry tomato with tonnato. Expect some interesting flavour combinations (raspberries and boquerones, anyone?) which work much better than you'd expect. Service was friendly, and the price very reasonable. The only area for improvement I think would be in the wine selection. At present it is restricted to organic wines, which to my taste aren't the best on offer in Slovenia.

On a slovene countryside, Krištof offers the perfect getaway from overcrowded Bled. Charming terrace, rustical interior with a touch of sensitivity. Tradition lives here. But when it comes to food... welcome to the next level, no kidding! Fantastic service for very special treats, signed by local producers. We tasted mushrooms, seafood, red meat... and everything was simply WOOW!! The pictures will tell you more. Wide also the wine list and the selection on glas. Can't wait to visit them again! Great service, marvellous food... unforgettable memories...with the right people.
