Understand this is an amazing location but thereâs lots of better options on the way in. Looks like a school camp and our food was memorable...for all the wrong reason! The Thai Salad was all wrong and the BLT soggy. Staff pretty disinterested too. Stop elsewhere on the way. Hello,Thank you for taking the time to review our onsite restaurant. We stopped here to have an adult beverage. The didn't have any, but my daughter enjoyed a great smoothie and the service was great. We chatted with the proprietor and he was nice enough to give us some information and tips for our Daintree day trip. He also talked up the fan palms so much that we just had to check out the boardwalk to see for ourselves. This walk was a happy surprise. While we didn't see a cassowary, we did enjoy checking out all the foliage. Overall, this was a pleasant and informative stop.
Our meal at Doris' was shared with the house trained cockatoo and parrot and a rather large and obviously well fed python. The food was basic but pretty good and if you are in the area don't hesitate to eat here.

An early start searching for cassowaries in the Daintree meant a long time between coffees. The surprise of the Daintree Is how many places dot the road, now mostly tarred through the jungle. Ions ago, roadside blocks were sold off and now houses and cafes and the occasional place to stay obscure your true experience. For the rain forest, you have to get out and walk some of the well worn and maintained forest paths. After several hours what better place to pull up than Cafe on Sea , aptly named with views across the Coral Sea. Tempting as it may be to go for a dip, the thought of being eaten by a croc stops that. Instead it was coffee on the verandah overlooking the ocean. Food was unadventurous so we settled for cake. It filled a hole but the coffee was good.
